In 2022, the "Chen's Taijiquan" of the Yellow River Institute of Science and Technology was approved as the third batch of excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance bases in Henan Province, and the comprehensive category of sports and aesthetic education was selected as the "first batch of sports and aesthetic education infiltration action plans in the province"; In the activity of "Reading 100 Classics and Millennial Culture: 100 Classics of Chinese Traditional Culture" sponsored by the National Library of China and the Library Association of China, 25 students won the "Reading Master" award in the national college student group; At present, the university has completed the key project of "Integrating Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture into Ideological and Political Teaching Research and Practice" in Henan Province, which has the value of promotion and application in private colleges and universities across the country.
At the beginning of 2017, the school established the "Institute of Chinese Cultural Inheritance and Development" to carry out the teaching and research of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and in 2018, it began to offer courses on the introduction of excellent traditional Chinese culture in the whole school, covering all students. In 2021, the school further reformed the education and teaching of excellent traditional Chinese culture, requiring that the education and teaching of the Introduction to Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture course be combined with the study and comprehension of Marxist theory, combined with revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture, combined with the education and teaching of ideological and political courses, and the excellent traditional Chinese culture course was officially incorporated into the ideological and political curriculum system.
The excellent traditional Chinese culture course is a compulsory course for college students in the whole school, and the school organized experts to compile the textbook of "A Concise Reader of Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture", formulated the syllabus, and clarified the teaching content in the context of "hearing the Tao, cultivating oneself, uniting the family, and governing peace", and the teaching method of "special teaching + practical experience". Through the course, students are guided to understand the basic context, essence content, personality ideals, and value pursuit of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and buckle the first button for students to become talents.
At the same time, the school also offers classic reading courses such as university, the mean, and the Analects, the accumulation of college students' humanistic qualities and the freshman seminar courses of the Central Plains culture, calligraphy appreciation, cultural relics and artwork judicial appreciation and other public elective courses of the whole school, folk dance, traditional martial arts and other professional courses, traditional instrumental music skills courses such as guzheng and pipa, and party courses such as Chinese excellent traditional culture and communist beliefs.
The school also carries out diversified practical teaching and experience, such as the establishment of the "Henan Pendant Studio", the holding of calligraphy, painting and other special activities of Chinese culture, the establishment of high-level research centers such as the Central Plains Studies Research Institute and the Ecological Culture Research Center, and the establishment of the Calligraphy and Painting Lovers Association, the Han Culture Research Association, etc.
The college will also serve the traditional instrumental music team formed by the Department of Arts and Sports in Shibalihe Primary School and Chunxiao Primary School in Guancheng District, etc., and carry out the "Aesthetic Education Infiltration Action" during the extended service period of primary schools, using traditional instrumental music to carry out excellent traditional Chinese culture education, cultivate children's cultural identity, and enhance cultural self-confidence.
