The house is located near the Asian Games Village in Beijing, where three generations of five people live together. In families where different generations live together, the safety and comfort of the elderly and children are of paramount concern. In addition, due to the differences in living habits brought about by the perceptions of different generations, how to achieve their needs under the same roof has also become an important challenge.Of course, high storage needs and comfort and efficiency during the morning and evening rush hours are also indispensable considerations.
The pain points of the original house type
The original unit of the house is 125, including three bedrooms, two living rooms, one kitchen and one bathroom. Due to the characteristics of the old community, it fails to take into account the changes in the living habits of contemporary people.
The problems of the house type are:
1. Lack of natural lighting in the home and dining room.
2. The living room is located at the core of the home, and it is easy to become a "traffic transfer station" if it is not planned properly.
3. The planning of all door openings is relatively random, resulting in confusion in the moving line.
4. There is only one bathroom, the utilization rate is not high, and the owner wants to add a toilet room.
These problems forced the retrofit, and the designers targeted these pain points:
Renovation highlights
1. Open the original non-load-bearing wall of the kitchen, introduce natural light from the small balcony, and increase the brightness of the foyer and dining room.
2. The bathroom is planned to separate dry and wet, and a new toilet room has been added to alleviate the congestion of morning and evening rush hours.
3. Reasonably allocate the space between the living room and increase the storage capacity.
4. The sofa in the living room is not placed against the wall, and a whole storage wall is added behind it to form a more flexible migratory line.
Foyer. A shoe cabinet with a depth of 35cm is set on the left hand side of the door, which will not block the light from the kitchen and meet the storage function of the house. The design of the milk tea half-wall extends to the dining room, avoiding the monotony of the large white wall and emphasizing the visual unity of the foyer and the restaurant.
Restaurant. The kitchen and dining room are separated by a half-wall, creating a visual effect of "partitioning and continuity" of the space. Sitting in the dining room also allows you to interact with the people in the kitchen and enhance the bond between family members.
1.The 4-meter dining table can accommodate 4-5 people, so there is no sense of crowding here. The gray-blue stripes of the tablecloth add a touch of retro feeling, injecting a visual change into the otherwise uniform milk tea color space.
Kitchen. The U-shaped kitchen maximizes the use of space, with a total length of 5 meters of cabinets and more storage space and worktops. The high-power integrated stove solves the problem of oil smoke and also frees up space for the top to design wall cabinets.
The aisle in the middle is 95 cm, so two people can cook together without feeling crowded. The choice of light green tiles adds color and freshness to the white + wood color kitchen.
By solving a series of problems of the original house type, this renovation makes the house more suitable for the lifestyle of contemporary families and improves the quality of living.
Living room remodeling highlights.
The living room has undergone a series of unconventional renovations to fully meet the needs of this family. The sofa has been moved forward and placed no longer against the wall, creating a storage system for the whole wall, which meets the storage needs of families with children for all kinds of sundries and toys, and keeps it neat and orderly.
On the opposite side of the sofa, instead of using a traditional TV cabinet, a simple and refreshing beech TV stand was chosen, which avoided the feeling of crowding caused by too many cabinets and increased the flexibility of the activity space.
The whole living room adopts warm wood floors throughout the house, with low-saturation milk tea color soft furnishings, creating a warm and soft atmosphere. The combination of the main sofa and the single sofa fully meets the daily needs of a family of five.
Built-in cabinet behind the sofa.
The recessed cabinet behind the sofa has a total length of 34 meters and a depth of 35cm, which fully meets the storage needs of daily fragments. The open compartment in the middle not only adds visual variation and avoids monotony, but also reserves ample sockets.
The width of the aisle between the sofa and the cabinet is 50cm, which will not hinder the flexible opening of the cabinet door, but also meet the walking needs of adults and children, forming a migratory circulation line of the entire living room.
Overhead lighting design.
The top lighting of the living room adopts a combination of main lights and magnetic track lights. The surface-mounted design of the magnetic track light needs to confirm the size in advance, reserve the light wire, and the transformer module is directly installed in the track.
Feel the atmosphere of the living room from the perspective of the frame mirror, the natural and smooth flow line and ample wall storage, make the connection between the spaces more complete and practical.
Renovation of balconies.
The balcony has been renovated with an additional insulation layer, and the layout has been re-planned to connect with the living room, visually increasing the area and light of the living room. On both sides of the balcony, there are cabinets with a depth of 45 cm to store shoes and miscellaneous items for the change of season.
Aisle design. The position of the housekeeping cabinet in the aisle is embedded in the washing machine, which reserves 18 meters in height. The green riser on the side becomes a family graffiti area, which is not only a place for children to express their inspiration, but also convenient for recording family reminders.
Bathroom remodeling.
The newly added toilet room in the bathroom solves the problem of washing and toileting for a family of five during the morning rush hour. The right wall of the bathroom is covered with water pipes, and a 20cm niche space is set aside next to the wall thickness, where a lot of cosmetics and toiletries can be placed.
The wash cabinet chooses a wide basin for easy use, and the mirror cabinet is paired with a 1m base cabinet to maximize the storage space.
Master bedroom design. A 1-meter desk is reserved on the left side of the head of the bed in the master bedroom, which not only meets the needs of occasional officework, but also serves as a dresser for the heroine. The same cherry wood is chosen for the desk and bed, which enhances the overall feeling, and the natural texture of the wood makes the space more welcoming.
The wardrobe in the master bedroom is designed at the foot of the bed and recessed into the wall, making it visually more refreshing and spacious.
Elder rooms and children's rooms.
The elders' room retains the furniture used before, and the style does not contradict the overall style, respecting the nostalgia of the elderly. The children's bed is fitted squarely into the recess on the left side, leaving more room for an activity area.
The solid wood bed is more environmentally friendly, and the wall paint on the side walls is slightly darker, which avoids the monotony of large white walls, and is also more resistant to dirt, which is suitable for children. The middle and window positions are vacated for children to read and play.
Although not luxurious, this new home is warm, comfortable and proper, fully considering the needs of three generations of five people, making the whole family more harmonious together, and each member has their own favorite little world to spend alone.
