The Asia-Europe Expo, also known as the China-Eurasia Expo, was formerly known as the Eurasian Fair.
On September 2, 1992, the first Urumqi Border Local Economic Fair was held in Urumqi.
In 1994, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the name of the Urumqi Fair was changed to "Urumqi Foreign Economic Fair", and the invitation objects and contents of the Umuga Fair were further expanded.
In 2008, the Urumqi Fair was collectively known as the "17th China Urumqi Foreign Economic Fair", which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the people of the autonomous region.
In order to further enhance the internationalization and professionalism of the UECF, expand its influence, and promote economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between China and Eurasian countries, the UMCA has been officially renamed as "China-Eurasia Expo" since 2011, and has become a comprehensive international expo sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the people of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and undertaken by the Department of Commerce of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the people of Urumqi. Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier attended the first Asia-Europe Expo.
After 2014, it will be held every two years.
From June 26 to June 30, 2024, the 8th China-Eurasia Expo will be held in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China.
