This reporter learned from the First Academy of the Aerospace Science and Technology Group that the second substage of the Long March-8 improved carrier rocket and the final stage of the general hydrogen-oxygen rocket developed by the institute have recently successfully completed the first test run of the power system in Beijing. This test run is of great significance to the entire development work and the first flight of the subsequent model.
Song Zhengyu, chief designer of the Long March 8 improved launch vehicle, said that in the past, the Long March series of medium-sized rockets used a 3-meter-diameter hydrogen-oxygen final stage. 3The 35-meter diameter universal hydrogen-oxygen final stage has undergone a series of technical improvements, which is a general-purpose product provided for China's new generation of medium-sized launch vehicles, which plays an important role in improving the comprehensive performance of the rocket, especially in the low-orbit 800 to 1000 km or 800 to 1200 km orbit, and giving full play to the characteristics of the specific impulse of the hydrogen-oxygen engine.
This test run is the largest test in the development of the Long March 8 improved launch vehicle. "The success of this test shows that the development of the general hydrogen and oxygen final stage has taken an important step, and it has been preliminarily verified that our design can meet the requirements. Song Zhengyu said.
