Experimental procedure for corrosion determination of grease copper sheets

Overview of the method for the corrosion determination of grease copper sheets.

A piece of prepared copper is immersed in the grease specimen and heated in an oven or liquid bath for a certain period of time. The general conditions used are 100 C, 24 h. At the end of the test period, the copper sheet is taken out, and after washing, the first method is to compare the test copper sheet with the copper sheet corrosion standard color plate to determine the corrosion level. Method B checks whether the test copper sheet has discoloration.

1 Place approximately 60 ml (about 50 to 70 g, depending on the grease ratio) grease sample into the bottom of a clean tube. The grease height is approximately 80 mm. Carefully tap the tube to insert the grease into the tube. Make the top a relatively flat surface. Shake off excess grease from the pipe wall.

2. To prevent the copper sheet from connecting with the fingers, wear polyethylene gloves or use stainless steel tweezers, and insert the cleaned copper sheet into the grease until the copper sheet touches the bottom of the tube, and the copper sheet is completely removed and covered with at least 5 mm of grease.

Note, method B can first coat the sample on the entire surface of the copper sheet and then insert it into the sample.

3Place the tube on a rack so that it remains approximately vertical, and cover the tube loosely with a lid. Put the rack and the sample into the copper sheet corrosion tester bath and adjust it to maintain the specified temperature during the test period. The commonly used conditions are 100, 24h.

4 At the end of the test period, remove the rack and specimen from the oven or liquid bath and allow it to cool to room temperature.

5.For the inspection of the copper sheet, wear a polyethylene glove or use stainless steel tweezers to remove the sheet from the grease and immediately person into the lotion. Immediately after washing, the copper sheet was removed and blotted dry with dry quantitative filter paper instead of wiped dry, and the first method was compared to the copper sheet corrosion standard swatch to check for surface discoloration and signs of corrosion. The specimen and standard color plate are placed so that the reflected light is approximately 45 angles for observation. Method B checks the copper sheet for green or black changes.

6.When inspecting and comparing the operation of the test piece, if the test piece is placed on a flat tube, the tube can be held with absorbent cotton to avoid the risk of leaving marks or staining the test piece.
