A vicious incident occurred at Fudan University that shocked the education community, when Jiang Wenhua, a young researcher with a tenure system at Fudan University, held a grudge against Wang Yongzhen, the party secretary of the university, because of his unsatisfactory work, and finally took deliberate revenge. On June 7, 2021, Jiang Wenhua stabbed Wang Yongzhen in the office of the secretary of the School of Mathematical Sciences with a knife purchased in advance, resulting in his tragic death.
After the judicial procedure, the court found out during the trial that the defendant Jiang Wenhua suffered from ** depressive disorder and had limited capacity for criminal responsibility at the time of the case. Based on this, the court sentenced Jiang Wenhua to death with a two-year reprieve. This judgment not only reflects the severity of the law towards the crime of intentional homicide, but also takes into account the mental state of the defendant at the time of the crime and the corresponding mitigation factors.
