URUSUCA, Brazil, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Year of China on the construction project of the East-West Railway in Brazil.
Xinhua News Agency reporter Zhao Yan.
Early in the morning of February 7, in Ulusuka, a small city in northeastern Brazil, Yin Xiaohao, the project manager of the first bid section of the east-west railway construction project in Brazil and the chief engineer of the Latin American Company of China Railway Tenth Bureau, led the Chinese team to hang blessing characters and paste Spring Festival couplets in the station and project camp to prepare for the first Chinese New Year in the construction of this project.
The East-West Railway is the main artery connecting Brazil's inland and coastal transportation, and will be connected to the North-South Railway, with a total length of about 1,500 kilometers. After the completion of the railway, the annual cargo transportation volume can reach 60 million tons, which will help the development of mining and agriculture in the central and western parts of the country.
Since winning the bid in April 2023, Yin Xiaohao, who has been working in Latin America, has moved to Ilius, Bahia, Brazil to carry out preliminary preparations. After the project officially started in July of that year, Yin Xiaohao moved his office to Ulusuka, a small city closer to the construction site. He told reporters that China Railway Tenth Bureau immediately set up a Chinese team of 17 people after winning the project, and the local company in Brazil also sent a group of management personnel to form a consortium to be responsible for the construction of the project.
Samuel Elizeu, contract manager of the Brazilian side of the East-West Railway Bid 1 project in Brazil, said: "Our consortium mechanism is very good, we have a team of translators to help communicate, we get along like family, and there is no problem for the teams of the two countries to work together. ”
Because many areas of the railway belong to the Atlantic coastal rainforest area, no one has entered before, and some of the bidding projects of the owner are only estimates, and with the gradual progress of the project, the amount of bidding projects in the early stage has a large deviation from the actual situation. This has brought a lot of unplanned clearance and temporary changes to the project department. In addition, muddy roads during the rainy season also make construction difficult.
In the face of unfavorable conditions, the employees of China Railway Tenth Bureau overcame various difficulties and steadily promoted the project to ensure the progress of the project and the safety of construction. Although Yin Xiaohao was able to return to China for vacation last year, he has been sticking to the construction site and leaving the opportunity to return to China to visit relatives during the Spring Festival to other employees.
Yin Xiaohao said: "I went abroad to work in Latin America in 2013, and it has been nearly 11 years, and Latin America has become my second hometown, so I can say that I have adapted to local life. I still feel very homesick during the Chinese New Year, but because the project is still under normal construction, I can't go back and I have to stick to my post. ”
Wang Lifeng, deputy project manager and safety director, has also worked overseas for many years. He told reporters: "This is the first railway project that our company has won the bid in Brazil, and the project is of great significance to the company. Although we are thousands of miles away from home and have regrets for our families, we can contact our families through **, and our families will understand. ”
On the afternoon of the 7th, the employees of the project department gathered in the Chinese dormitory area to make dumplings together and eat Chinese New Year's Eve dinner in advance. The Chinese staff taught their Brazilian colleagues how to roll dough and make dumplings, and the scene was full of laughter and joy. Due to the non-stop work on the construction site during the Spring Festival, the project department continued to work as usual the next day to prepare for the bidding of the next bid. The new year has new goals and new hopes.
