Microsoft seems to have adopted a new strategy in the home console space, no longer limiting exclusive games to the Xbox platform. According to the latest gaming news from PGSOFT Games, Microsoft plans to release up to 4 Xbox exclusives on rival Sony PS5 and Nintendo Switch consoles.
PG Games were previously rumored that the Xbox-exclusive Hi-Fi Rush could be available on PS5 and Switch, while the co-op adventure Sea of Thieves, developed by Microsoft Rare Studios, is also expected to arrive on PS5. The latest revelations show that Microsoft's sci-fi role-playing game "Starfield" will be launched in PS5 at the same time after the release of the massive expansion Shattered Space in 2023. In addition, Raiders of the Lost Ark: Ancient Circle, which was originally planned to be released exclusively on Xbox in December 2024, is also considering a PS5 version in a few months.
It is worth noting that after Microsoft's exclusive game is released on the Xbox platform, the PS5 version will be launched quickly, and the exclusive period will be relatively short. The move suggests that Microsoft may be considering a broader game release strategy, as opposed to the past practice of limiting exclusive games to Xbox. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a recent interview that Microsoft has the opportunity to become a better publisher after acquiring Activision Blizzard. This series of revelations has also sparked speculation about whether Microsoft will adjust its game release strategy.
