Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently made a splash of attention after a recent Instagram comment about Apple's Vision Pro. In his review, he compared Meta's Quest 3 to Apple's Vision Pro and made it clear that the Quest 3 is the better option.
Zuckerberg pointed out that the Quest 3 has a clear advantage over the Vision Pro's $3,500, with the Quest 3 starting at just $500, and that after testing the competitor's products, he thinks the Quest 3 is superior in every way. He emphasized the comfort and portability of the Quest 3, arguing that it is more suitable for people to use when moving or socializing with friends. In addition, the Quest 3 has a wider field of view, a brighter screen, and sharper images. He also mentioned that the Quest 3 has a larger app library with access to YouTube and Xbox apps, which is one of the differences from the Vision Pro.
However, Zuckerberg also acknowledged that the Vision Pro is higher in terms of screen resolution and praised Apple's eye-tracking feature. He also noted that Meta plans to reintroduce the eye-tracking sensor removed from Quest in a future release. Zuckerberg concluded his comments by talking about the open and closed models of each generation of computers, saying that Meta will stick to the open model and wants to ensure that its technology can succeed.
While Zuckerberg acts as a tech device commentator, let's also note that Meta has invested heavily in the development of mixed reality products and wants to market their products by emphasizing the benefits of the Quest 3. It's a competitive market, and the Quest 3 is considered by Zuckerberg to be the best choice for Apple's Vision Pro.
