On January 30, the parallel session of the 2024 World Digital Education Conference "Teachers' Digital Literacy and Competency Improvement" was held in Shanghai. Chen Jie, Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, Amadou Cruz, Minister of Education of the Republic of Cape Verde, Vain Mokoroa, Minister of Education of the Cook Islands**, Marietta Geoeva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria, Azaat Atayev, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Vahid Hamidov, Director of the Scientific and Methodological Center for Educational Development of Uzbekistan, Yan Shuang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, and Mei Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee of East China Normal University, attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Huang Xiaohua, deputy director of the Department of Teacher Work of the Ministry of Education.

In his speech, Chen Jie pointed out that in the face of the urgent need for high-quality development of education and the challenge of the new generation of information technology represented by artificial intelligence, it is necessary to take digital literacy and competency as the necessary qualities of teachers, improve teachers' digital teaching ability, and promote the improvement of teaching quality. China hopes to work with other countries around the world to strengthen global cooperation, share the latest research results, innovative technologies and high-quality resources through platforms such as the World Conference on Digital Education and the World Alliance for Digital Education, so as to better form a global consensus and address common challenges, promote the improvement of teachers' digital literacy, leverage the overall reform of education, and achieve higher quality, more equitable and inclusive development of education.

The keynote speech session was chaired by Gu Hongliang, Vice President of East China Normal University, Lv Jian, former President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xia Zehan, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, Uqiu Rahayu Sudayo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Tebuka University, Indonesia, Yuan Zhenguo, Director of the Faculty of Education of East China Normal University, Bill Bass, Former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Educational Technology, Xiong Zhang, Dean of the School of Information of the University of International Business and Economics, Liu Jun, President of the City University of Macau, James Douglas Brody, Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, Nasir Dau Maimun, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Li Zijian, President of The Education University of Hong Kong, and Eve Quinia Efremowa, Director of the Center for Teacher Teaching and Learning Development at NYU Shanghai, shared their insights and practices on the development of digital literacy and competency for teachers.

The roundtable dialogue session was moderated by Yan Hanbing, Dean of the School of Teacher Development of East China Normal University, and conducted an in-depth dialogue on the theme of "Improving Teachers' Digital Literacy: Difficulties, Paths, and Innovation Cases" on the theme of "Improving Teachers' Digital Literacy: Difficulties, Paths, and Innovation Cases".

The conference is of great significance for exploring the possible ways for teachers to improve their digital literacy and competency, promote inclusive and equitable quality education through education digitalization, and promote the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals of education.
