In Gubeikou, there is a folk song: "Gubeikou, three treasures, Qilang Tomb, Linggong Temple, and glazed shadow wall are close to the avenue." The reason why people list the "Qilang Tomb", "Linggong Temple" and "Glazed Shadow Wall" as the three treasures of Gubeikou is because they are closely related to the historical story of the Yang family guarding the border during the Song Dynasty. Among them, the "Qilang Tomb" and "Linggong Temple" are the true testimony of the loyal spirit of the Yang family, which has aroused people's deep respect.
Gubeikou is surrounded by mountains, the Great Wall winds its way, and the Chaohe River passes through it. At the foot of Wohu Mountain in Hexi, there stands the famous "Qilang Tomb". Legend has it that only one leg bone of Yang Qilang was buried here. Once, Yang Qilang led his army in a fierce battle with the invading enemy at Golden Beach, and was defeated because he was outnumbered, so he went to Chaohe Pass to ask Pan Renmei for help. However, as a traitor, Pan Renmei has been bribed by the enemy and intends to surrender. Knowing that Yang Qilang came to ask for help, he secretly rejoiced, wanting to take the opportunity to get rid of this brave and invincible general. On the surface, Pan Renmei warmly entertained Yang Qilang and promised him his daughter as his wife, but in fact, she lured him to join the enemy and promised him wealth and wealth. Yang Qilang saw through Pan Renmei's conspiracy and angrily reprimanded him, but instead of repenting, Pan Renmei ordered the guards to capture Yang Qilang and force him to submit.
In the face of threats, Yang Qilang was not afraid and denounced Pan Renmei for being shameless, a traitor to the country and a scum of the nation. Pan Renmei was so angry that she tied Yang Qilang to a tree in a frenzy and shot him with arrows. Despite the brutal torture of one hundred and three arrows, Yang Qilang still did not die, and it was only when he was hit by an arrow in his throat that he stopped cursing Pan Renmei. Pan then brutally dismembered Yang Qilang's body and threw it into the Chaohe River in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Amazingly, the river went upstream, washing one of Yang Qilang's legs back to the river under Wohu Mountain in Gubeikou. It just so happened that an old fisherman who was familiar with Yang Qilang's deeds was fishing here, and from the boots he picked up, he recognized that this was Yang Qilang's remains, so he respectfully buried this leg on the west bank of the Xiachao River in Crouching Tiger Mountain. Overnight, the original small mound miraculously grew into a hill, attracting many people to come to pay their respects.
The next morning, the old fisherman appeared and told everyone that he had dreamed of Yang Qilang at night to express his gratitude to him, and to expose Pan Renmei's betrayal and his determination to use his body to block the gap in the Chaohe River to prevent the enemy from invading. Yang Qilang said in his dream that he would protect the borders of the motherland like mountains forever and resist foreign aggression. After the old fisherman finished speaking, the people were deeply moved, and a monument symbolizing loyalty, bravery and justice was erected in front of Yang Qilang's tomb. It is a pity that before the liberation, this monument was toppled by the reactionary Kuomintang army, but the deeds of Yang Qilang's loyalty and martyrdom will remain in the hearts of the people.
Linggong Temple is located in the east of the river, the temple enshrines the statues of Yang Linggong and his eight sons, and the apse also has the images of Yu Taijun and Mu Guiying. Although the "Yang generals" died heroically in the process of guarding the border passes, they were terrified, so during the feudal rule, it is said that "Fanbang" would come to the "Linggong Temple" every year to worship incense. There is also a legend that every year from the "Linggong Temple" will shoot a magic arrow to warn the "Fanbang" not to violate the border.
The Legend of Qilang Tomb and Linggong Temple" tells the story of the Yang family's loyalty, courage and perseverance, and profoundly reveals the importance of loyalty, bravery and adherence to justice. In the story, Yang Qilang chooses to adhere to his beliefs in the face of life and death, even at the cost of sacrificing his life, and his deeds have become a spiritual monument of the times, always reminding us that no matter what situation we are in, we must maintain our love and loyalty to the country and the nation. At the same time, it also warns us in real life to be vigilant against those who are hypocritical on the surface and sinister in their hearts, adhere to morality, and inherit and carry forward the loyal quality and heroic spirit of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
