Amberlite HPR8300 H Ion Exchange Resin is an acrylic, macroporous, weakly acidic cation exchange resin used in industrial desalination, softening, and dealkalinization applications. It is a high-quality resin for industrial desalination and softening applications when high-performance and cost-effective operation is required.
The resin's extremely high total capacity and particle size help produce excellent operating capacity and rinse characteristics while reducing chemical regenerants and water usage.
When Amberlite HPR8300H is run in NA form, it removes the total hardness even in highly salinity water. When operated in the H-type, it only removes the hardness that is related to alkalinity – weakly acidic cationic resins operating in the H-type are ideal for use with strongly-acidic cationic resins, improving the overall efficiency and yield of the desalination system by reducing the hardness exposure of the strongly acidic cations.
In sodium-based softening operations, Amberlite HPR8300H is able to increase the operational capacity of total hardness compared to other weakly acidic cationic resins currently available, which allows for more competitive vessel designs or expanded production capacity when installed in existing systems. In the dealkalizing process, Amberlite HPR8300H offers improved runnability compared to other weakly acidic cationic resins currently available, which allows users to simultaneously minimize operating costs and environmental impact while conserving valuable raw water resources under the right conditions.
In reverse osmosis pretreatment, Amberlite HPR8300H protects the membrane from hardness scaling, which can improve system rate and operational reliability, and can eliminate the use of chemicals such as scale inhibitors or acids in RO feedwater pH control. The resin's ability to soften high-salinity feed water allows RO to operate reliably under extremely variable and/or demanding conditions, such as wastewater reuse or minimal liquid discharge. The Amberlite HPR8300H is compatible with all system designs and bed configurations.
In a layered bed, Amberlite HPR8300 H should be paired with a gel Amberlite HPR1300 H ion exchange resin for the highest handling capacity, and in more challenging situations, Amberlite HPR2800 H ion exchange polymer will be preferred.
