One by one, Mr. Wu Shumin had a brief discussion with his "Traces of Extraterritoriality".
I have always had the habit of "flipping through newspapers and periodicals", and I knew through newspapers and magazines that Mr. Wu Shumin was a famous writer a long time ago. However, the communication and interaction with Mr. Wu has been done in the past two years after adding WeChat. Before the arrival of the New Year, I was fortunate to read his travelogue collection of "Traces of Extraterritorial Tracks", and due to the turmoil of all things before the end of the year, I took the time to read this masterpiece with more than 300,000 words on and off.
To be honest, I read this work with a sense of curiosity, surprise, surprise and shock. Covering the volume and thinking deeply, I feel a lot of emotion, but I don't know where to start, so I can't write. By the way, it's better to simply believe in the reins, where it is dark, where to rest!
First of all, it is safe to say: this is an ingenious, unique, and extraordinary cultural essay. "Don't" is not in the delicate and proper structure and the end of the sentence, deep analysis and summary, frank expression and pertinent revelation, giving people a sense of inadequacy, fog dissipation, and sudden enlightenment; "Independence" is alone in the middle of the narrative, and the author's position and views are infiltrated between the lines at any time, without the slightest flattery and servility, and there is no evasion and concealment of the text and flickering; "No" is not in the meticulous carving, precise wording, vivid expression, every word, every sentence is fine, and the article is fine. Full of good words and beautiful sentences, popular, dazzling, witty words, wonderful, beautiful.
It can be said that this is a highly commentative cultural prose travelogue in which the author integrates himself into the outside world and truly introduces to the Chinese people what he has seen, heard, thought and thought outside the territory. Through this book, we can also fully appreciate the author's transcendent talent, knowledge accumulation, cultural accomplishment, critical thinking ability, cognitive level, style of doing things, principles of life, etc., and at the same time, we can not have the conditions and opportunities to go abroad to perceive the outside world, do a spiritual roaming, and get an immersive experience and feeling. I can say with certainty: Wu Shumin is a well-deserved powerful writer.
How so? For more than half a century, this high-achieving student who graduated from the Chinese People's University, a famous school in Beijing in the early 60s, has worked tirelessly and written incessantly; he has traveled to more than 100 cities in China and more than 20 countries and regions outside the region for most of his life, published articles on various topics and genres, including **, in nearly 400 newspapers and magazines at home and abroad, totaling more than 8 million words, winning 68 awards of various kinds, and having a five-volume anthology of more than 2 million words.
Wu Shumin is also a diligent, open-minded, knowledgeable, knowledgeable, and well-educated scholar-type writer. In this travelogue, the author's eyes are like a recording camera (Mr. Wu was originally a photographer with profound attainments), and the people and things he saw were recorded in a panoramic way.
The text contains a large number of cultural landscapes, natural geography, modern and modern development history, and civilization history of the country involved, covering the country's national conditions, social system and politics, economy, military, law and religious beliefs, cultural background, cultural identity, customs, national customs, values and other ideological fields of multidisciplinary knowledge.
My other feeling is that Mr. Wu is an honest writer who dares to tell the truth, has responsibility and responsibility, has feelings and courage, and has a sense of justice. He has a shocking background and confidence, open-minded, passionate, and has the fine character of seeking truth from facts, fairness and justice, and the straightforward and bold temperament.
In "Traces of Extraterritoriality", during the nearly three-month visit to more than 40 cities in nine countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada, India, and Vietnam, he has a strong emotional thinking ability and the concept of right and wrong, and is filled with a strong original ecological color.
In terms of length and weight, especially for the United States, Canada, India, Vietnam, these countries have a focus on pen and ink, the tour time is longer, the location is also more, in the atmosphere full of heavy content and rich humanistic atmosphere, unabashedly expressed their confusion, resentment, incomprehension, disdain and disagreement.
For example, the twists and turns on the issue of visas to the United States, tossing back and forth, not only time-consuming but also ruined, frustrating and unbearable, as well as the horror and anger of several travel adventures. Another example is that in this self-proclaimed country of democracy and freedom, some phenomena that violate human ethics and morality are openly supported and protected by the state; In particular, the fact that American citizens are legally armed with guns, the gun market is booming, and about 50,000 innocent people are killed every year, which makes the author feel even more lamentable, pathetic and terrible, and writes about the ridiculousness and inconceivability in the formulation and implementation of those strange laws in Britain, which make the author disdainful.
In the face of discrimination, exclusion and injustice against Chinese tourists in Vietnam, these practices that undermine the dignity of Chinese tourists have aroused great resentment among the author. Traveling in India, the author reflects the ancient civilization of India, while lashing out and pondering the dirty and messy status quo of modern times, as well as the phenomenon of the rich and a large number of poor people living together in a corner but the living customs and ideology seem to be two countries, which is puzzling; In the British Museum, the author was very saddened by the sight of Chinese cultural relics and caused deep reflection ......
In short, reading this extraterritorial travelogue, I read the truth and true temperament of the real person, and saw the realization of the real situation, so that I have a new positioning and identification with the author Wu Shumin, and admiration and admiration arise spontaneously.
Looking at "Traces of Extraterritoriality", it can be said that this is a cultural essay that integrates ideology, knowledge, interest, and literature. Let's go back to the topic again: the world outside is wonderful, and the world outside needs to be tailored.
Although the developed capitalist countries are economically and technologically advanced, they have their fatal weaknesses and deficiencies, and are full of suffocating decay and decline.
As Chinese, we should uphold the consistent principle and policy of "using the past for the present and the foreign for China", recognize the gaps, learn from each other's strong points, make use of our strong points and avoid our weaknesses, not be humble or arrogant, not be arrogant or impetuous, adhere to the correct cultural stand, persist in catching up with the pace, pursue truth, goodness and beauty, and unswervingly handle the affairs of the Chinese first and foremost.
To learn from other countries, we must not forget our ancestors, we must not copy them all, we must not violate the public order and good customs of the Chinese, and we must not destroy the "Great Wall"; we must not rest on our laurels and be ambitious; still less should we be blindly optimistic and feel good about ourselves, and shout "awesome my country" all day and night! This is also a little inspiration for me after reading this travelogue.
