SW77 column: Small ring active antenna - AOR LA320
Text: SW77
The LA320 is an ultra-small active loop antenna specially designed for indoor shortwave reception and reception, covering frequencies from medium wave to short wave (16-15MHz), which can receive 02-0.54mhz and 054-1.6MHz frequency, when receiving frequencies higher than 15MHz, it is recommended to use a whip-mounted antenna or a length of wire as the receiving antenna.
The antenna unit can be rotated for maximum signal reception strength to minimize the effects of local interference, and the LA320's variable capacitance tuning greatly increases the selectivity of your receiver preamp.
Since the directivity of receiving a long-distance skywave signal is not as strong as that of receiving a local groundwave signal, you can easily get the best reception direction and minimize background noise.
Use an active loop antenna
Open the battery cover at the bottom of the base, insert the 006P 9V battery (supplied with the unit), press the connector, and finally close the battery cover.
Connect the two plugs of the BNC-BNC coaxial cable plug (supplied with the case) to the antenna inputs of the LA320 and your receiver. If your receiver cannot use the BNC connector, then the correct adapter must be used.
Insert a receiving unit into the socket hole on the front panel of the LA320 enclosure. It is possible to use 320s (16-5.0MHz) or 320H (50-15MHz) unit. The LA320 has only one rotation coordination control on the front panel that can be turned off by pressing the counterclockwise direction to power off the active antenna. When the power is on, there is an LED light on the front panel that illuminates to indicate.
Rotate the switch clockwise until the LED light is on, and continuously rotate the switch clockwise and then counterclockwise until the receiver signal strength meter (S-meter) reaches the maximum value, so that the received signal is the clearest. If your receiver doesn't have an S-meter meter, you can simply adjust it to the maximum signal it can receive. The rotating ring unit then provides the strongest signal received and the least interference.
We recommend installing the LA320 near a window for the best possible reception.
Turn off the power when not in use. When the battery is depleted, the reception performance of the high-frequency band will be reduced, so you must replace the battery if you notice that the high-frequency performance is deteriorating.
