Let's talk about the 86 version of "Journey to the West", as the most classic and successful TV series in China, and the TV series with the most replays in the world.
This TV series is only 25 episodes, but when I was a child, I felt like I could never finish watching it! Today I'm going to talk about this classic TV series.
I'll start with the pros;
The first is the actor, I won't talk about the Monkey King of the six-year-old child, let's talk about Tang Seng, to be honest, Tang Seng changed three people to play, but I don't feel any sense of disobedience, this is really magical! Some people say it's a childhood filter, but I really don't think there is a childhood filter in the 86 version of "Journey to the West" in terms of actors. Like some Hong Kong films, this is indeed the case, when I grow up, some characters feel embarrassed, but the 86 version of "Journey to the West" really doesn't feel it! I'm mentioning that a person is the Bodhi Patriarch, to be honest, playing the actor of the Bodhi Patriarch really gives me a feeling of fairy wind and bones, to be honest, in my heart, the old fairy may be like that.
The second is dress-up, although the costumes of the master and apprentice of the 86 version of "Journey to the West" do not conform to the original work, but in terms of appearance, I still think it is the best in the current "Journey to the West" series.
The third is **, needless to say, the opening song and ending song of the 86 version of "Journey to the West", let's just say that the episode "The Great Holy Song" and "The Degraded Five Elements Mountain" are the first version of "Born Nameless and Sexless" and "He Wants to Be a Little Grass" are all absolute classics, as well as the background sound when Zhu Bajie carried his daughter-in-law.
The fourth is reasonable adaptation, the 86 version of "Journey to the West" also has many adaptations and additions, but on the whole, it is not like other versions, completely illogical, or indiscriminately adapted, except for the Jade Emperor drilling the bottom of the table, the others basically have the finishing touch, for example, Sun Wukong went to Lingtai Mountain to find Bodhi Patriarch after knocking down the ginseng fruit tree, and the guidance given to him by Bodhi Patriarch is very touching.
Let's talk about the bad points;
The first is to delete a large number of plots of the original work, due to financial problems, the 86 version of "Journey to the West" deleted a large number of plots, of course, there are rumors that there are 40 episodes of the version, but Wang Chongqiu, who is the chief filmmaker of 86 Saka's "Journey to the West" (director Yang Jie's husband) has already said that this is a rumor.
But I'm more strange, logically speaking, the story of "Journey to the West" is the most praised story among the people, but CCTV seems to be far inferior to the Three Kingdoms in terms of funding and attention, and of course it may be the earliest "Journey to the West" filmed.
The second is that many plots do not conform to the original work, in fact, Director Yang himself admitted that what she wanted to shoot was "Dream of Red Mansions", and it can also be said that she obviously didn't like "Journey to the West" so much, and it was obviously wired in the restoration of the details of the original work, and the 86 version of "Journey to the West" was more combined with folk opera, basically deleted some of the darkness in the original book and some irony of reality.
The third is that there is some understanding of the mind and Buddhism, and it is obvious that the 86 version is not very good, such as "tattered and lost a bell", it can also be seen that Director Yang does not like Buddhism, of course, that era is normal, because after all, it was just the time of reform and opening up.
The above are my personal views on the 86 version of "Journey to the West".
