Constantly pursue improvement in the field.
Q: How did you get on the road of production?
A: I have been very fond of ** since I was a child, and it may be deeply inherited by my parents, my mother and grandmother have liked the ** culture of Yue Opera and Guqin since they were young.
Therefore, my first instrument, the guzheng, began to be studied in elementary school, and then I was admitted to ** high school and learned the second instrument, the electric guitar; The next journey is clearer, the production of the bachelor's degree and the sound art of the master's degree are all research and exploration of the first.
The first production school in the undergraduate level will teach more in general, and the master's level is more self-taught.
Q: Why did you want to study overseas? What did the study abroad experience bring you?
A: When I was an undergraduate, the development prospects of the production major in China were still relatively unpopular, and there were more professors and recruits for the traditional ones in China, and for me, who was only interested in software and hardware and was not good at vocal music, it was a very big conflict to choose a college that I was right for. Therefore, when I was an undergraduate, I chose Malaysia, a Commonwealth country, as my first springboard, which paved the way for my subsequent master's degree in the UK.
For me, who embarked on the road of studying abroad at the age of 10, there were many difficulties at that time, different cultures and different language environments, and all kinds of problems. For example,As the only Chinese student in the unpopular ** production major, different cultural contexts; Even if you pass the English test, you are not familiar with all kinds of professional terms. Compared with the master's degree, the undergraduate production school will teach more than thatThe master's level is more self-taughtand that students will be able to find relevant opportunities outside of school.
For students, the first production of undergraduates is more about the relevant courses matched by the colleges, but compared with domestic universities, the first production majors abroad will be more subdivided, and the equipment is more professional.
As an international education tutor, it's more about responsibility.
Q: As an international education tutor, what do you think this identity can bring you? What is your teaching philosophy?
A: As an international ** education tutor, this identity may be more of a responsibility than that of ordinary tutors, because most of the students who apply for colleges and universities have never been abroad, so for tutors, it is more about passing on foreign vision to students without deviation, as well as passing on Western culture and related majors to students in advanceIn order to facilitate the student's discomfort after going abroad.
I usually like to pay attention to some domestic and foreign electronic festivals, and I am also a movie enthusiast.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work to enrich your inspiration pool?
A: Outside of work, I personally pay more attention to itElectronic ** section at home and abroad, and some foreign electronic ** people released all kinds of new songs, to fill in the inspiration of the rich ** and enhance the sensitivity of timbre.
At the same time, I am also oneMovie-goersI like to watch all kinds of movies to capture the sound and auditory effects of various films on the audience, listen to the soundtrack in the movie, pay attention to the sound space processing in the movie, etc., these are one of my hobbies to enrich my inspiration library.
**Production is more about the operation of software and hardware, which is faster to get started and can be changed later.
Q: What are the research directions of production Comparison of professional characteristics in different countries Is it difficult to change majors and apply for graduate school, and what content do you need to prepare?
A: When students mention the production major in a broad sense, I will say: The scope of production is very wide, which one do you want to study? That's right, in China's **production profession, there may be a collective term for "**production", while in foreign countries, there are three major categories of **production categories:Sound Design & Arranger & Recording Equipment, and if you subdivide it, there are dozens of categories, large and small.
From the past to the present, most of the students who have applied for the first production of the examination have chosen to apply for the British and American directions, and a small number of them have chosen to study in Asia and Europe.
In the case of the United Kingdom and the United States, the distinction between their professional characteristics is extremely obviousThe United Kingdom focuses on theory, and the United States focuses on practicality;Britain focuses on thinking, and the United States focuses on creation; And forFor students who change majors and apply for graduate schoolThere are definitely difficulties and challenges, but compared with other majors, production is not like musical instruments or vocal music that need to be cultivated from an early age and have been trained, and production is more about the operation of software and hardware, so it is faster to get started, and it can be changed in the later stage. Generally, colleges and universities will require students to prepare 3-4 portfolios of different styles and directions, which are mainly based on the standards of the institution.
Chinese students are more prepared for exam-oriented education, while foreign students grow up in an environment that is more creative.
Q: What do you think of the production level of Chinese and foreign college students?
A: Because of the different environments and cultural differences, in this field, foreign cultural creation pioneered the development of production, and the impact of different cultures and the combination of global cultures, China has gradually accepted different cultures and integrated its own culture to create a new culture in this regard.
Chinese students are more prepared for exam-oriented education, while foreign students grow up in an environment that is more creative. ;Chinese and foreign students have different prominences and shortcomings, for example, Chinese students have rigorous and efficient practice of things, which is incomparable to freedom-loving foreign students; However, foreign students are innovative and delving into things, which is lacking in Chinese students who have always received examination-oriented education.
It is necessary to encourage students to innovate and prepare for the professional knowledge they will learn later.
Q: What skills do you focus on when developing students? What are some common problems that students have when making portfolios?
A: Learning is a long process, especially for students who go overseas alone, as a mentor, encourage students to innovate, and do some preparation for a lot of professional knowledge in production to learn later, I think it is still very necessary.
Many of the common problems that students have when making portfolios are not the result of basic problemsIt is because this major is unpopular and unprofessional in ChinaAs a result, students see less and see less, and are unable to innovate. I will guide students to make a relatively satisfactory professional portfolioIt is more necessary to give students the guidance and broaden their horizons in related majorsto help students further complete their portfolios.
1.Portfolio 1 - Sound Interaction
This is a work of sound interaction composed of circuits and individual welds, and it is also an experimental synthesizer created using original equipment and circuit welding, and the project is impressive because this type of work is still relatively rare among Chinese students, and it is also an innovation in sound installation.
2.Portfolio 2- Will It Snow in December
One of the reasons why this work is so impressive is that this student is a film and television production student, and then wants to apply for a sound-related major in a month's time, which is an interdisciplinary student and has a very short time to apply to colleges. In just one month, he successfully completed 3 portfolios in different directions and a self-made film soundtrack, and passed the first round of applications for portfolios from multiple universities.
Listen more, think more.
Q: Do you have any suggestions for students who are studying ** production?
a:Listening and thinking more is always a suggestion for learningIt's the same for production. The distribution ratio of listening more, the processing techniques of listening to timbre, the skills of listening to soundtracks, etc., are some experience accumulation that teachers cannot teach students for the production of **; Think more about how to create yourself, think more about the timbre of the songs commonly used in the current market, etc., these are also the fastest skills for the production of **.
