Therefore, there is no doubt that the rectangular antennas in the front and rear parts of the Type 055 destroyer's hull are electronic warfare systems.

Two examples can be used to support the high level of electronic warfare capabilities of the Type 055 destroyer.

Air defense capabilities. The Type 055 destroyer is equipped with 112-cell vertical launch systems in the front and middle parts, which are designed to house the reclamation of Hongqi-9B long-range anti-aircraft missiles.

Despite the fact that the Haihongqi-9B anti-aircraft missile uses an active radar seeker at the end, it still needs a guidance radar in the middle of the flight to provide it with relay guidance.

The C-band transponder antenna on the Type 055 destroyer is set above the Type 346B active phased array radar.

Even if each beacon can only live for two days, it will provide guidance for 4 Haihongqi-9B anti-aircraft missiles at the same time. The Type 055 destroyer also has 16 fire channels, that is, it can intercept 16 targets at the same time.

However, with China's existing radar technology, the C-band transponder beacon on the Type 055 destroyer is definitely not only able to provide guidance for 4 anti-aircraft missiles, but also 8 or 16, which shows that the fire channel of the Type 055 destroyer is at least 32.

In addition, there are 24 Hongqi-10 close-in missile launchers in the tail of the hull, so that the Type 055 destroyer has at least 120 anti-aircraft missiles. Such air defense capabilities are still extremely strong.

Anti-ship capabilities. The Type 055 destroyers are equipped with YJ-18 and YJ-21 anti-ship missiles, which are loaded in a 112-cell vertical launch system.

In fact, even if the sea search radar is installed, it is not very useful, after all, its detection range is only two or three hundred kilometers, and it is simply not able to provide guidance for the YJ-18 and YJ-21.

The Type 055 destroyer's sea search equipment should be the same as that of the DF-21D and DF-26, relying on space-based satellites and land-based long-range radars, otherwise, ordinary shipborne radars will not be able to detect such a long distance at all.

Anti-submarine capabilities. Thanks to its large displacement, the Type 055 destroyer has a relatively large bulbous bow. Therefore, it is possible to deploy a larger active sonar system with a transducer base array inside, which also makes the detection range of the Type 055 destroyer's sonar long enough to detect distant submarines as soon as possible.

In addition, there is an SJG-311 low-frequency active-passive towed line array sonar in the stern of the ship, which has a great performance advantage when detecting high-noise modern submarines.

As the most produced type of ship with regional air defense capability in our Navy, the overall performance of the Type 052D destroyer is still very strong.

Air defense capabilities. The Type 052D destroyer is equipped with a 64-cell vertical launch system, which is also compatible with Haihongqi-9B anti-aircraft missiles and YJ-18 anti-ship missiles, and the estimated loading capacity of both sides is 8 and 56.

Plus 24 Hongqi-10 close-in missile launchers in the tail of the hull. In this way, the Type 052D destroyer can carry 80 anti-ship missiles.

The C-band transponder beacon that provides relay guidance for the Haihongqi-9B is also designed above the Type 346A active phased array radar.

Each of the four C-band transponder beacons can also guide at least four Haihongqi-9B anti-aircraft missiles at the same time, which means that the Type 052D destroyer will have at least 16 fire lanes.

As for the Hongqi-10 close defense system, it does not have any detection equipment of its own, and mainly relies on shipborne radar to search for targets.

In addition, its guidance methods are passive radar and infrared imaging, which mainly rely on receiving electromagnetic waves emitted by the active radar seeker of anti-ship missiles to guide.

That is to say, the Hongqi-10 anti-aircraft missile does not have the restriction of fire control channels, as long as the radar wave emitted by the active radar seeker of the enemy's anti-ship missile is received by the Hongqi-10, it can attack. To increase the hit rate, an infrared imaging seeker is also installed in the head part.

On the whole, the air defense capabilities of Type 052D destroyers are also quite strong.

The only difference is that the Type 052D destroyer is equipped with a Type 366 sea search radar, which has a range of about 250 kilometers.

Judging from the detection range of the Type 366 radar, it is not capable of providing guidance for the YJ-18 anti-ship missile.

It can be seen from this that the Type 052D destroyer also relies on space-based reconnaissance satellites or land-based long-range radars when carrying out anti-ship operations.

Anti-submarine capabilities. The bulbous bow of this type of destroyer is equipped with an SJD-9 sonar, and the base array of the transducer of this type of sonar is 15 meters, diameter 2A cylindrical array of 5 meters. In active search mode, the effective range is only 12 km.

There is an SJG-311 towed line array sonar installed in the tail, after all, it belongs to the domestic high-end sonar system, and its specific performance is unknown.

However, its previous generation model is the SJG-206 sonar, which has a total length of up to 300 meters, a maximum range of 185 kilometers, and a maximum working depth of nearly 1000 meters.
