At the beginning of the new year, everything is renewed. On January 9th, two new friends of mascots made their official appearance in the Zhijiang Pavilion of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, sending blessings to everyone to "cross" the millennium and accompanying the audience to celebrate the New Year.
The creation of the two mascots is inspired by the two cultural relics of Hemudu culture in the Neolithic Age - Hemudu pig pattern pottery bowl and rhinoceros image bone carving, the image of the pig and the rhinoceros is cute and cute, smart and expressive, so that the Hemudu cultural relics that have been sleeping for thousands of years "come alive", interact with the audience at close range, and let more young people know about it.

Hemudu pig pattern pottery bowl, now in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum, is a treasure in the Neolithic pottery art of China. The pig-patterned snout carved on both sides of the outer wall of the bowl is long and protruding, there are mane lines on the back of the neck, the tail is short and drooping, the body is decorated with plant patterns and circle patterns, and the four-legged depiction is delicate, the image is realistic and lifelike. The image of the pig engraved by the Hemudu people on the black pottery bowl also contains the beautiful yearning of the ancients for a bumper harvest of grains and the prosperity of six animals.
The rhinoceros image bone carving unearthed from the Tianluowan site in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province is also a rare boutique, the rhinoceros image is portrayed very imposingly, the outline and the main body are carved with the yin and yang lines, in addition to the big eyes of the head, there is also a big round eye in the abdomen, and the eyes are composed by the method of subtracting the ground and yang, this local change of carving techniques is noteworthy, and can also be regarded as a sign of maturity and flexibility of carving techniques.

The two mascots were designed and created by Mr. Yang Qirui. Mr. Yang is a professor and doctoral supervisor of the China Academy of Art, deputy director of the Academic Committee of the Academy, vice chairman of the China Urban Sculptors Association, deputy director of the Sculpture Art Committee of the China Artists Association, member of the National Major Theme Art Creation Art Committee, a special expert of Zhejiang Province, and a national artist of "Virtue and Art". In the process of transforming the linear pattern of the plane into a three-dimensional shape, three-dimensional production is carried out with the help of digital means, a three-dimensional sample model is made through 3D printing technology, and finally after many modifications and improvements, it is hand-forged through stainless steel to form a sculpture in the eyes of the audience.
Yang Qirui said that he hopes to convey the concept of bringing the past to the new, connecting tradition with the present, and taking the audience to understand that our ancestors not only created tools but also created art in the process of life.
