In the Fangsai Art Museum in Liangzhu, Hangzhou, more than 30 of Han Lu's ink sketches are on display, and there is an endless stream of people coming to see them.
In this cold and warm winter, under Han Lu's pen, the flowers and trees in the world, the famous mountains and rivers are full of new vitality.
Han Lu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the School of Chinese Painting of the China Academy of Art, and doctoral supervisor, was selected for the Zhejiang Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles Literary and Art Masters Program last year. More than 30 years ago, he received traditional teaching from the China Academy of Fine Arts, and he was one of only two students recruited for the Flower and Bird Painting major that year.
But over the years, Han Lu has not been stuck to this tradition, but has found individuality from the traditional commonality, and explored her own unique style of ink language.
In his paintings, we see not only the painting, but also himself, his heart, the bird, the flower, the leaf, the butterfly, the raindrop. They talk, communicate, think, and become each other between the universe and the world.
There are words and voices outside the painting, and there are paintings and thoughts outside the painting, which are the voice of the heart and philosophy. This is "The Source of the Heart of Creation", the name of Han Lu's exhibition was chosen by his daughter, who is still a freshman.

The opening ceremony was held on the afternoon of January 5, and Han Lu did not deliberately invite guests, but many people still came, crowding the exhibition hall.
At the scene, many of his students sent flowers and filled a table. "I wish Mr. Han's art exhibition a complete success", the students have blessed them like this.
Just a few months ago, Han Lu occasionally came to the Fangsai Art Museum to watch the exhibition and drink tea, and during the chat, the curator warmly invited him to do an exhibition. On weekdays, Han Lu often participates in friends' exhibitions, but she has never done a solo exhibition, no matter how big or small, which is somewhat regrettable.
So, after thinking about it again, Han Lu agreed, and he chose more than 30 ink sketches, which are not big or much, but they are just right to put in this art museum.
Han Lu said: "Most of the few small-scale sketches on display here are imagery sketches based on the concept of painting, the size is not large, and the subject matter is relatively diverse. ”
He spoke modestly and sincerely, like his paintings.

Ji Yi, her daughter who is studying art history at the China Academy of Art, is a freshman this year, and it was she who curated the exhibition for her father Han Lu, and she gave it a name: Creation and Transformation of the Heart Source. This is a reflection triggered by Zhang Qi's famous sentence "Outside teachers create nature, and the heart is sourced".
Ji Yiru explained that in the Western painting system and language system, "creation" and "heart" seem to be a pair, two relative references, the concepts of "objective" and "subjective", as far as our Chinese painting tradition is concerned, creation and heart are unified and complementary to each other, creation is the creation of literati feelings, and heart source is the heart source of nature.
Existence is the world itself, it is us who perceives, everything in this world is symbiotic, it has temperature, life has temperature, dead wood and rocks also have temperature, and thoughts have temperature, so we also explore the temperature of pen and ink. She said so.
Indeed, from the paintings of her father Han Lu, she can feel such temperature and heat.

Many people say that artists should pursue individuality, but Han Lu believes that artists should have commonality, and they should pursue commonality, commonality comes from heaven and earth, and also from the heart, creation is heaven and earth, and the source of the heart is the heart.
In the exhibition hall, there are many people looking around a painting, and vaguely, the painting is a gloomy house under the golden light, which seems to be difficult to understand. They discussed, why paint such a house? Han Lu patiently explained to them.
In the summer of 2023, Han Lu passed through the mid-levels of Hangzhou and saw some abandoned factories, and he stopped to think. At one time, steel was produced here, and it flourished for a while, making a great contribution to the times. But as the city grew, it gradually disappeared, leaving behind the ruins of the sunset and overgrown with weeds.
The glory of the past is gone, but the dawn of a new civilization has appeared, and the spirit is immortal. There is a hint of nostalgia in this painting, so he added a touch of gold to the top of the picture. This is the glory of the past, but also the dawn of the new.
Such a picture also resonated with many people, especially the audience who had lived in the factories of those state-owned enterprises.
We don't have to paint green mountains and green waters, those remnants of mountains and rivers with humanistic history and the imprint of urban development are deeper and more radiant than green mountains and green waters. Han Lu expressed his creative point of view, which is also his concern for history and pyrotechnic reality.

Throughout the ages, lotus flowers have been the most common subject matter among painters, but Han Lu's lotus flowers have their own language.
A few days ago, Han Lu went to Zhuji on a business trip, but unexpectedly it rained in winter, and saw a few residual lotuses hanging in the water by the river. He drew this picture, and the best thing was not the lotus flower, but the raindrops under the lotus, and the picture moved when they jumped little by little. What Han Lu wants to express is that no matter the glory of life, rain and dew always moisten all things. In one corner of the picture, a few weeds have sprouted their pointed heads, which is the vigorous power of life. Therefore, even the withered lotus leaf lotus canopy makes people see infinite tension.
These ink paintings by Han Lu are quiet and moist on the picture, but if you look closely, each stroke is chic and upright, full of power, even if it is a bamboo leaf facing the wind and a withered residual lotus, all of them carry the style of a gentleman in ancient times.
Painting is about whimsy, not just about things. Han Lu said that in his daily teaching, he often said to his students, "You must have your own feelings and ideas, and don't paint like me." ”
Silent and silent

I saw a dead vine, vigorous and powerful, and a bird perched on the vine, as if saying something. Han Lu only inscribed four words: Wen Chang's family letter.
Wen Chang, of course, is Xu Wei. Usually, Han Lu often takes students to the Qingteng Book House in Shaoxing, and she often goes there to find inspiration. Throughout the ages, many painters also hope to be "scholars under the Qingteng Gate".
Xu Wei inscribed on his ink grape picture: "Half a life has become a man, and the independent study is howling in the evening breeze." The pearl at the bottom of the pen has nowhere to sell, and it is thrown into the wild vines. "He's painting grapes, but he's also painting himself.
Han Lu's efforts to paint are also himself, so he borrowed birds to send letters to his family in his paintings, which is a dialogue between descendants and sages.
In human artistic activities, painting and poetry are inseparable, although they are different art forms, but they can convey the same interest, Su Shi of the Northern Song Dynasty once put forward the concept of "painting is silent poetry, poetry is sound painting", which led to the trend of poetic painting creation.
Han Lu's paintings are always accompanied by a few lines of poems written by himself. He is a doctor of literature, as early as when he was young, he loved philosophy, literature, and history, and reveled in poetry and songs.
In Han Lu's paintings, through a few words and a few lines of poetry in his inscription, he opened up the inside and outside of the painting, and opened up the people and paintings. It's like a rhetorical device in writing - synaesthesia.
For example, last autumn, at the foot of the Jade Emperor Mountain, I saw a flower lying on the stone blooming, Han Lu painted it, and inscribed a poem like this: "Under the moon, the sleeping incense stone is a couch, and the floating light is like a shadow like a veil." "With flowers as a metaphor for people, with stones as a metaphor for couches, with moonlight as a metaphor for quilts, with shadows metaphor yarn, people are full of romantic imagination, poetry and painting are one.
There are also people who discuss in front of a painting, is this painting garlic? Is this a melon? Han Lu named it "Three Flavors Cause and Effect Diagram".
One is a pomegranate, one is like a melon, and the other is like garlic, there are real and imaginary, Han Lu inscribed: "Those who have passed have not seen it; The present, the visible is also visible; The future is full of Zen, which naturally reminds people of Muxi's "Six Persimmon Pictures" with color and emptiness.
Therefore, in the face of everyone's questions, Han Lu replied like this, just be appetizing and happy, no matter what it looks like.

'Freehand' has gradually become a unique cognitive habit and way of life of Chinese, and the same is true of painting, the depth of its connotation and the manifestation of form, which is a Taoist instrument that places affection between pen and ink and beyond pen and ink.
