Sitting.
1. Types of sitting postures.
The sitting posture is the most commonly used posture for practicing qigong.
In the general sitting position, there are again.
There are different types of double-cross-legged sitting, single-cross-legged sitting, normal cross-legged sitting, normal sitting posture, and so on.
Double-disc sitting; Place the ball of the left foot on top of the right leg and then the ball of the right foot on top of the left leg to sit cross-legged (Fig. 23).
This kind of sitting method, for the most complete sitting of the cross-legged, Buddhism called sitting, when sitting on a double plate, the knees must be completely close to the ground, the whole body force to form three points, when sitting naturally upright, will not tilt left and right. However, unless you have been trained for a long time, this way of sitting is easy to cause soreness in your feet, but it is easy to be distracted, and it is already very difficult for beginners and even more difficult for the elderly, so there is no need to force it.
Single cross-legged sitting: Place the ball of your left foot on top of your right leg and touch the ground with your right foot. Or place the ball of the right foot on top of the left leg, and the ball of the left foot touches the ground, both of which are sitting in a single cross (pictured.
This way of sitting, compared with the double crossed knee slightly disadvantages, if the sole of the left foot is added to the right leg, the left knee will fall into the air, can not be close to the ground, easy to tilt to the right when sitting, when the ball of the right foot is added to the left leg, then the right knee will fall into the air, and it is easy to lean when sitting.
For beginners, if it is not easy to have a double disc and a single disc is easy to tilt, it is better to use an ordinary disc leg.
Ordinary cross-legged: Sitting cross-legged with the sole of the left foot under the right leg and the ball of the right foot under the left leg (Fig. 25).
This way of sitting is quite comfortable when sitting, but be careful not to tilt on both sides. Beginners who are cross-legged will inevitably have numb feet when they sit for a long time, so they can only endure it, and after a long time, their joints will be loosened and they will be naturally safe. If the soreness and numbness are too severe, they have to exchange their feet up and down, and if they can no longer tolerate it, they will temporarily relax it, and then return to sit after the numbness has recovered.
When sitting cross-legged, it is advisable to sit softly, especially for beginners, and a cushion should be placed under the buttocks, and the height of the cushion varies from person to person.
When placing the cushion, the first thing is to be comfortable, and the second thing is to check whether the waist bar is naturally straightened after sitting: if you can meet these two conditions, it is the most standard height.
Normal sitting posture: Sit on a chair with your legs hanging down white, your thighs parallel to the ground, comfortable when sitting, feet shoulder-width apart, and a natural straight waist bar (Fig. 26).
This kind of sitting method, no distractions, the most durable sitting, comfortable and natural, so the author advises students to use this sitting posture, especially the general elderly, cross-legged difficulties, the most suitable to use this sitting posture, people with high blood pressure, when sitting cross-legged, the waist and legs are sore, easy to cause qi and blood to rush up, hovering, also suitable to use this sitting posture.
The practice of qigong is based on the principle of comfort and well-being, so it is ideal to sit in a general posture, and there is no need to practice sitting cross-legged to find troubles.
