OOCL reminds customers that in order to comply with the new EU requirements, customers are required to provide additional information in their shipping instructions.
OOCL announced that effective June 3 this year, the EU's new pre-entry security system, Import Control System 2 (ICS2), will introduce a new process for goods entering the EU's 27 destinations by sea, inland waterways, roads and railways, as well as Norway, Switzerland and Northern Ireland.
According to reports, ICS2 is the EU's new customs cargo advance information system. The system will collect data on the arrival of all goods planned to enter the EU. EU Customs will use this system to enhance the protection of EU citizens and the domestic market against security risks.
This is the third phase of the implementation of the ICS2 system, which extends the requirement to submit information to all modes of transport.
OOCL reminds that in order to meet the EU's ICS2 requirements, customers are required to provide the following additional information in the Shipping Instruction (SI) for carrier submission:
HS goods** (6 digits): the standard used to identify goods in the international **;
Detailed description of the goods: provide specific, complete and accurate product names so that customs can identify the goods;
EU-consignee EORI: EU Economic Registration and Identification Number, which is a unique number for the entire EU region, issued by the customs of EU member states to import and export companies or persons;
Consignee Details: including street name, city, province, country, and zip code.
