The "Gravity No. 1" carrier rocket independently developed by Dongfang Space Technology (Shandong) has created many records such as the world's largest solid launch vehicle with take-off thrust, the first all-solid (solid core stage + solid booster power) launch vehicle in China and even the world, and this is also China's first successful launch vehicle at sea.

On January 11, 2024, the "Gravity-1" carrier rocket provided by the Fourth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Fourth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology") provided all seven high-thrust solid engines was successfully lifted off in the waters near Haiyang, Shandong Province, and successfully launched a total of three satellites from the 18th to the 20th of Yunyao-1 into the scheduled orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.

It is 195 tons more than the take-off mass and 141 tons higher than the world's largest active solid rocket ESA "Vega-C".

The reporter learned from the Fourth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology that this type of rocket adopts a semi-configuration, consisting of four solid boosters of the core first, core, core, solid engine and the first stage of the core, and is the world's first medium-sized carrier rocket with solid booster power so far.

The seven solid high-thrust engines of the four types supporting the rocket were all developed by the Fourth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology. Among them, the booster stage, the core level 1, and the core level 2 are diameter 26-meter engine, core ** for the rocket high-precision upper stage solid engine. The raw materials or structural forms used in the engine are all high-maturity and cost-effective products, and technologies such as carbon fiber housing, medium-energy propellant and vector nozzle are adopted.

According to reports, the modular, combined configuration design of "core stage + booster" enables the rocket to achieve a lower center of gravity and a larger support span, and the "chassis" is more stable, which can better adapt to the shaking scene of the launch ship during sea launch, improve the adaptability of the rocket to sea transportation and launch under high sea conditions, and reduce the difficulty of pre-launch service support.

Due to the "Gravity-1" rocket for the first time to adopt the all-solid configuration, compared with the successful flight of the all-solid launch vehicle and solid-liquid rocket, based on the rocket configuration, flight sequence and development process, the rocket solid engine development team has successively solved many technical problems such as shell bearing, thrust synchronization, nozzle thermal protection and other multi-load and multi-physics coupling.

At present, the number of carrier rockets with all solid main power and booster power provided by the Fourth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology has been expanded to 6 types, including the Long March 11, Long March 6, Lijian 1, Jielong 1, Jielong 3, and "Gravity" series rockets that have been successfully put into service.

The reporter learned that the three satellites launched this time were developed by Changguang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. This series of satellites has been designed for mass production adaptability on the basis of the development of "Tianjin University-1" satellite, which has the characteristics of short development cycle, high integration, light weight, small size and high cost performance, and is mainly used to provide commercial meteorological space data services, and has broad application prospects and value in the field of meteorological space observation.
