Ma Dan: Out of the official court, living in seclusion in the rivers and lakes, the Taoism is profound.

Ma Dan was born in the Di tribe of the Jin Kingdom. During the reign of Marquis Wen of Jin, he served as a doctor in the court, and when Jin Xiangong was in power, he served as a shogun. Later, Jin Xiangong sent troops to annex the Di tribe and killed the Di prince Gong, and Ma Dan was disheartened and left the Jin Kingdom. When Zhao Xuanzi took charge of the Jin State as the ruling party, Ma Dan personally took an train to the capital of the Jin State to congratulate him. Jin Linggong once wanted to recruit Ma Dan for his own use, but because the way of recruitment was not in line with etiquette, Ma Dan politely declined. The messengers who came to greet him were ready to resort to coercion to bring Matan to his knees. When Ma Dan sensed the envoy's intentions, he recited the mantra and rode away in the wind. The Yidi tribes in the north all respected Ma Dan very much and built temples for him.

Passers-by said: In the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the orthodox dynasty located in the Central Plains collectively referred to the surrounding tribes as Siyi. According to the direction, they are named Dongyi, Nanman, Beidi, and Xirong. In the complete biography of the immortals, the first Hu immortal to appear is Ge You, who was born in the Qiang tribe of Shudi, and Ma Dan is the second Hu tribal immortal to appear. Although Ma Dan was born in the Yi tribe, he did not practice tribal witchcraft, but authentic Taoism. Ma Dan once entered the Jin court as an official, and went through two generations of monarchs of Jin Wenhou and Jin Xiangong, and later because the Jin Dynasty annexed his tribe, Ma Dan began to abandon the official and live in seclusion.

When Zhao Xuanzi was in charge of the Jin dynasty alone, Ma Dan once congratulated Zhao Xuanzi, most likely because Ma Dan secretly participated in Zhao Xuanzi's seizure of power. Jin Linggong sent an envoy to recruit Ma Dan, most likely in order to win over Ma Dan and deal with Zhao Xuanzi, who was in power at the time. Zhao Xuanzi was the first minister in charge of military and political power in the Jin State, although Zhao Xuanzi maintained the rule of the Jin State during his reign, but also indirectly opened the Pandora's box of the Jin State and the monarch, and finally Han, Zhao, and Wei divided the Jin State. During the reign of Jin Linggong, the power struggle with Zhao Xuanzi was fierce, and soon after Jin Linggong failed to win over Ma Dan, he was killed by Zhao Xuanzi's younger brother Zhao Chuan. Ma Dan seems to have already figured out the mystery, so he withdrew early.

Original text: Ma Dan, Jindi people. Wenhou was a doctor when he was a doctor, and he was a curtain when he was dedicated to the public. Gong destroyed Di, killed Prince Gong, and Dan went. When he arrived at Zhao Xuanzi, he took the car and waited in the capital of Jin. Linggong wants to be polite, and he is not polite. The Russian wind was swift, and Dan went into the return wind. Northerners respect it.

"The Complete Biography of the Immortals" is an excerpt of the immortal characters involved in various materials such as "Sou Shen Ji", "The Biography of the Lie Immortals", "Historical Records", "Zhuangzi", etc., and is compiled and sorted out.

There are nine volumes of the Complete Biography of Liexian, the first eight volumes are signed "Wujun Wang Shizhen Collection (Ed.), Xindu Wang Yunpeng School", and the ninth volume is signed "Xindu Houxue Wang Yunpeng Supplement". There is a theory that the first eight volumes were also edited by the bookseller Wang Yunpeng, but for the sake of book sales, he deliberately pretended to be written by Wang Shizhen, the leader of the literary world. The specific truth is no longer verifiable. It mainly refers to the "Complete Biography of the Immortals" compiled and published by the Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, and translates and tells the stories of the immortals involved. Due to my limited level and inappropriate understanding of the translation, readers are kindly requested to criticize and correct and be taught with an open mind.
