Comprehensively improving the quality of education is an important strategic task for Zhejiang University to accelerate its march to the forefront of world-class universities. Facing the major demand for the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in the new era, the school has accelerated the absorption and integration of first-class educational resources at home and abroad with a more open and inclusive attitude, and worked together to improve the quality of education and international competitiveness. Following the "Qiushi Distinguished Teaching Post", the "Global Outstanding Faculty Program" was launched, inviting overseas famous teachers with profound academic attainments and outstanding teaching ability to offer high-level courses for our students.

The "Global Outstanding Chairs Program" is a teaching program set up by the university for overseas famous teachers. Focusing on the overall goal of talent training of "cultivating high-quality innovative talents and leaders with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, art and labor, and global competitiveness", we will gather world-class resources to create a golden course group with the characteristics and global influence of Zhejiang University, and help cultivate top-notch innovative talents.
The Global Distinguished Fellowship Program will be implemented for 5 years from 2024 onwards, with a target of 20-50 projects per year. Zhejiang University will provide internationally competitive work allowances, funding for teaching activities and course construction, and a teaching support team as needed.
Project Requirements:
1) Applicants should know Hua Youhua, rigorous academics, international academic influence, outstanding teaching ability, and remarkable educational results, mainly including winners of important international awards, academicians of academic organizations in developed countries with science and technology, full professors of top universities or first-class disciplines in the world, scholars who have won important teaching awards or published international best-selling textbooks, etc.
2) The courses are open to undergraduate or graduate students of our university, and in principle, they should be compulsory courses for undergraduates, basic courses, compulsory courses, limited elective courses or graduate professional courses. The curriculum should be designed by the applicant independently or in consultation with the relevant faculties, and should be high-level, innovative and challenging, so that students can truly benefit from it.
3) Teach at least one high-quality course per academic year during the project implementation period. In principle, offline teaching can be conducted independently or jointly with teachers inside and outside the school to form a course group, and the number of teaching hours of each course shall not be less than 24 hours, and actively participate in the construction of courses and teaching materials, and help young teachers improve their teaching ability.
Application Process
The project is open for application all year round during the implementation period, and will be reviewed 1-2 times a year. Interested applicants are requested to contact the relevant departments of Zhejiang University or the heads of each department (see the list below) to understand the course requirements and provide personal teaching statements and other materials.
The deadline for the first batch of applications for 2024 is February 22The relevant faculties will then conduct a preliminary selection of candidates, and the university will organize a centralized review in April, and the selected candidates can start teaching as early as the summer semester of 2024.
