Zhong Kui: Yisheng Thunder exorcises demons and wards off evil spirits and blesses the emperor of the town house, referred to as "the true monarch of the town house", "the true monarch of the exorcism", and "the emperor of the exorcism". Together with Emperor Guan Sheng and Emperor Zhenwu, he is collectively known as the Emperor of the Three Demons, and is one of the three gods who subdue demons and subdue demons.

When Zhong Hui celebrated his fiftieth birthday, his friend Zhang Xian made a special trip to celebrate, and when he saw Zhong Kui's literary brilliance, he married his only daughter to Zhong Kui and asked Zhong Kui to join him. The Jade Emperor Angel went down to Fan to dream of Zhong Kui, gave him a sword and a magic pen, and said: "The pen can record the good and evil in the world, and the sword can get rid of the evil in the world." Soon after, Zhang Xian asked Zhong Kui to come to his house to study. The daughter of the Zhang family is named Xiuying, who is twenty-eight years old, born with a beautiful national beauty, poetry and songs, and knows everything. Zhong Kui studied at Zhang Xian's place, with no distractions, no words, no squinting, and no reckless movement. A year later, he failed the Kyoto exam. Zhong Kui felt that his fame had not been achieved and returned to his hometown in shame, so he and his servants went to Zhongnan Mountain to live and study hard. After Xiuying learned the news that Zhong Kui did not return to his hometown, she became ill with longing and died after ten years.
Zhong Kui won the first place in the second test, but was deposed by the emperor because of his ugly appearance. In a fit of rage, Zhong Kui touched the stairs and died. After his death, the Emperor of Heaven immediately sent the golden boy and jade girl to pick him up and named him the god of exorcism. He came to Hades to purge the demons of Hades. Yan Jun told him that the ghosts of the underworld were already managed by many gods, and none of the spirits dared to do so, and suggested that he go to the world to hunt ghosts. So, with an old grudge, he came to the world to catch ghosts. Since then, Zhong Kui has beheaded countless ghosts in the yang world.
Zhong Kui hunts ghosts
During the first year of Tang Xuanzong, Tang Xuanzong fell ill. One night, Tang Xuanzong suddenly dreamed of two ghosts, a big ghost and a small ghost. This big ghost, with a broken hat on his head, is dressed in a blue robe, with a horn belt around his waist, and his arms are exposed, catching the little ghost at once. The big ghost gouged out the little ghost's eyes, threw it in his mouth and ate it. Then, he tore the imp in half and ate it. Xuanzong was so frightened that he couldn't possess his body, and hurriedly asked who he was, and he replied: "I am Zhong Kui, a Jinshi of Zhongnan Mountain." Because he should not be raised in the Wude years, he returned to his hometown in shame and died by touching the steps. I am now the king of ghosts, and I swear to rid your majesty of all the demons and monsters in the world! ”
Tang Xuanzong woke up in a dream, recovered from his illness, and was refreshed.
So, he immediately summoned the great painter Wu Daozi and asked him to draw a "Zhong Kui Ghost Hunting Picture" according to what he saw in his dream. Wu Daozi pondered for a moment and waved his head. Li Longji stared at it for a long time and said, "Isn't Mr. Mo dreaming with me?" How do you draw like this! Immediately rewarded Wu Daozi, and hung this painting in the back gate to suppress demons and drive away evil spirits. Due to the vigorous promotion of Tang Xuanzong, Zhong Kui became a folk superstitious immortal who drove away evil spirits and ghosts.
Another theory: Zhong Kui is a comedy character made up by folks. Legend has it that Zhong Kui is actually a wooden stick called Zhong Kui. The ancient book explains: "The Qi people are called the end of the spine." "Verpine (chuí), wooden sticks. The people of Qi called the wooden stick the end of the sun. Since it is a wooden stick, it is not surprising that it is used to ward off ghosts.
