On February 27, TrendForce released a report pointing out that Apple's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will be equipped with quadruple reflective prisms and support 5x optical zoom.
According to TrendForce's report:
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has achieved good sales results after being equipped with an exclusive quadruple reflective prism (tetraprism) periscope telephoto lens module, so it can be expected that brand manufacturers will increase the use of periscope lens modules in the future.
It is expected that by 2024, Apple will upgrade the quadruple reflective prism periscope telephoto lens module, which was originally only available on the flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max, to the iPhone 16 Pro, so that Pro series users can enjoy this hardware upgrade.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max adopts the quad prism camera system"Foldable"Designed to be built into a smartphone for up to 5x optical zoom and up to 25x digital zoom.
In contrast, the smaller size of the iPhone 15 Pro remains consistent with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is still limited to 3x optical zoom.
Ming-Chi Kuo reported in September last year that while the current iPhone 15 Pro Max has an exclusive 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also have this feature.
He also mentioned that the quadruple reflective prism structure equipped with the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the main bottleneck in the mass production process of the device, so Apple has raised the ** specifications of Da Li Guang to make up for the lack of production capacity of LG Innotek.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max's quadruple prism feature will give users a better shooting experience, and this hardware upgrade is worth looking forward to.
