Aaron, January 29 (Xinhua) -- On the evening of January 29, local time, the Chinese Embassy in Nauru held a resumption ceremony in a hotel in the southeast of Nauru Island. Luo Zhaohui, representative of China and director general of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and Angeming, the foreign minister of Nauru, jointly unveiled the embassy.

Angming congratulated the Chinese Embassy in Nauru on its reopening. He said: The pace of developing relations between Nauru and China has not only been rapid, but has also been warmly welcomed in Nauru. Nauru is looking forward to future cooperation between the two sides.

Wang Xuguang, head of the group for the resumption of the Chinese Embassy in Nauru, said in his speech that recognizing the one-China principle is the political foundation for the restoration and development of relations between the two countries. At this new starting point, China and Nau will continue to enhance political mutual trust, support each other in independently pursuing a development path suited to their own national conditions, take care of each other's core interests and major concerns, support and cooperate closely with each other in international and regional affairs, and push bilateral relations to new heights.

About 60 people attended the reopening ceremony, including Speaker of the Nauru Parliament Stephen, some representatives of parliamentarians and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese in Nauru.

On the morning of the 29th local time, the resumption team of the Chinese Embassy in Nauru held a flag-raising ceremony at its temporary office in the southwest of Nauru Island.

On January 24, China and Nauru signed a joint communiqué on the resumption of diplomatic relations, officially resuming diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between the two countries, and Nauru became the 183rd country with diplomatic relations with China.
