Turkey and Egypt signed a joint statement on cooperation

Turkey and Egypt signed a joint statement pledging to cooperate in a wide range of fields including politics, security, ** and culture.

On Wednesday (February 14), Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt signed a joint statement in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on the reorganization of the meeting of the high-level strategic cooperation committee between the two countries.

The statement highlighted the deep-rooted shared historical and cultural ties between Turkey and Egypt, and underlined Ankara's and Cairo's commitment to strengthening strong ties between the two countries in all fields to serve the common interests of the two countries and peoples, as well as strengthening solidarity and cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in the regions in which the two countries are located and beyond.

The two countries** will co-chair future meetings of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Committee. The Committee will meet biennially in Turkey and Egypt on a rotational basis. The coordination of the work and the preparation of the agenda for each meeting will be the responsibility of the two leaders.

In preparation for the High-Level Committee on Strategic Cooperation, a joint planning group meeting co-chaired by the Ministers of the two countries will be held to convene senior leaders from other relevant ministries and agencies.

As part of the agreement between the two countries, the two countries will cooperate in a number of areas, including politics and diplomacy, economy, banking and financial services, investment, transport, aviation, maritime, tourism, health and labor, security, military and defense industry, combating various organized crime and terrorism, culture, education, science and technology, energy, mining, agriculture, environment, forestry, housing and urban rehabilitation, climate change, communications and information, and consular affairs.

In order to strengthen cooperation in these areas, the Ministers of the two countries and other relevant ministers are tasked with completing the necessary internal procedures, taking all necessary measures to draw up the required memorandums of understanding and agreements, and ensuring their ratification and implementation.
