Although the U8 can hardly be surpassed by the U9 in terms of sales, the U8 has become a phenomenon. There are many reasons behind the explosion of the U8, including BYD's word-of-mouth accumulation and market share over the years, the high level of discussion caused by the U-turn function, the rise of off-road vehicles, and the trend of hard-core SUVs. These factors make the Yangwang U8 not only popular, but also verified in practicality, and even relatives who don't know how to drive will show its approval, meeting the need to show off when returning home for the Spring Festival.

In contrast, as a supercar, the U9 inherently has a smaller audience. In the 2023 million-dollar car sales ranking, the top three are Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Porsche Cayenne and Land Rover Defender, and no supercar has sold more than 5,000 units a year. Although the U8 ranked 25th with only two months of sales, the Haobo SSR, which is also a self-owned brand supercar, sold only 10 units throughout the year.

Therefore, it is likely that it will be difficult to look up to the U9 to succeed in terms of sales. However, it's not just about sales performance. If the self-developed Haobo SRR has carved a gap between the barrier between the independent brand and the supercar field, then the Yangwang U9 uses the heat brought by BYD and Yangwang U8 to directly smash a hole in the barrier. It shows that independent brands can not only surpass in the new energy passenger car market, but also show their strength in the field of supercars with pure electric supercars.
