The dragon soars all over the world in spring, and the pen sings and dances to welcome the New Year.

Since ancient times, the dragon has always been a symbol of auspiciousness in the tradition of the Chinese nation. Legend has it that dragons can fly, are good at changing, can call the wind and rain, and are listed as auspicious with phoenixes and unicorns. It is not only an animal in ancient Chinese mythology, but also one of the symbols of the Chinese nation, and to this day, Chinese sons and daughters around the world are still proud of being "descendants of the dragon". In the new era of actively advocating a "community with a shared future for mankind", the global Chinese have written a new glory and legend on the world stage with their own efforts, hard work, diligence and kindness.

On the occasion of the coming of the Year of the Dragon, the 87-year-old "folk artist" Mr. Dai Dunbang used a unique artistic brush to present a group of fine brushes, strong colors, unique personality and fit the times of the "Shenlong Three Character Classic" art masterpieces, combining many new eras, new ideas and new feelings into this group of dragon-themed pictures, showing the old artist's artistic pursuit of keeping pace with the times, keeping the right and innovating, and caring about current affairs and continuous learning, which is extremely moving.

In this group of vivid, interesting and allegorical works, there are many allusions, customs and slang related to dragons in traditional culture, such as the second day of the second lunar month, commonly known as "the dragon raises its head", the ancients believed that the dragon is in charge of the rainfall, and the rainfall determines the agricultural harvest, and the agricultural harvest determines people's living standards, and the dragon has become the most important "totem" of the agricultural society. In the farming culture, the "dragon raising its head" indicates that yang energy is generated, rain increases, and everything is full of life. Therefore, since ancient times, people have also regarded the "Dragon Raising its Head" Day as a day to pray for good weather and good weather, ward off evil spirits and disasters, and accept auspicious transport. So, under Dai Lao's pen, "Timely Rain" ** appeared an auspicious dragon holding an umbrella, it raised its head high, while raining down, at its feet, everything recovered, thriving, hard-working farmers rejoiced, excited for all things to grow.

There are also "Waiting for Gifts" that expresses "Longjing Asking for Tea", "Gui Struggle" painted by the folk legend "Carp Jumping over the Dragon Gate", "Good Story" painted according to the slang phrase "Swinging the Dragon Gate Array", and many works created in combination with current affairs at home and abroad, reflecting Dai Lao's responsibility and responsibility as an artist who always cares about the people, cares for the times, and pays attention to the people's livelihood. Whether it is "Clear as a Mirror" that shows that "green mountains and clear waters are invaluable assets", or "Xintianyou" that praises the realization of the aerospace dream of the Chinese people, and "Harmony is Precious" that calls for peace, harmony and common prosperity, all reflect what Dai Lao sees, thinks and feels about the development of the current era.

These works are all artistic masterpieces that draw inspiration from traditional folk customs and create with the theme of "dragon", deeply excavate and interpret the ideological essence and moral essence of China's excellent traditional culture, so that the most basic cultural genes of the Chinese nation can adapt to contemporary Chinese culture and coordinate with modern society, carry forward the cultural spirit that transcends time and space, transcends national and national prejudices, and has contemporary value, so that China's excellent traditional culture blooms with eternal charm and style of the times, and shows the old artists in their old ageThe specific thinking, practice and exploration of "creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional culture", each work contains the deep feelings of the old artist for the Chinese nation, traditional culture, and a beautiful new era.

After painting this group of works, Dai Lao spent another 5 months in the studio to create 9 four-foot gold paper composed of "Shenlong Follows the Avenue, Five Stars Benefit China" through the scenery screen. In the picture, five dragons of different colors and vivid shapes are drawn in five directions, southeast, northwest and middle, each of which corresponds to the rapid changes of the land of China - at the foot of the green dragon in the east is Shanghai, an international metropolis, Dai Lao focuses on depicting the Bund complex, Pudong Lujiazui Financial ** District, Yangshan Deep-water Port, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where Dai Lao has been teaching for a long time. The whole picture is based on cinnabar color, and is embellished with a large number of white doves flying in the air, presenting a vibrant scene.

The dragon symbolizing the south is based on red and yellow, and its body is surrounded by the beautiful and magnificent green mountains and green waters of the motherland, as well as the pink walls and tiles of the ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River, the welcoming pine of Huangshan in Anhui Province, the peacocks, elephants, and golden snub-nosed monkeys of Xishuangbanna, etc., which integrate the mountains and rivers, creatures, and scenery, showing a harmonious and natural beautiful scenery. Beneath the white dragon, which symbolizes the West, depicts the historic Sanxingdui cultural relics of the land of Sichuan and Shu, the giant panda, a national treasure, and a magnificent landscape surrounded by mountains. It connects the snow-capped mountains of the north. The ink dragon symbolizing the north rises into the sky, and around it, through the combination of melodious camel caravans and rapid high-speed rail, it connects the millennium of glory and the new appearance of the times displayed by the ancient "Silk Road" to today's "Belt and Road". On the screen, the manned rocket takes off, the satellite soars in space, and the Belt and Road locomotive is like the wheel of the new era, moving forward at full speed and moving forward.

In the center of the picture is a circular dragon pattern, surrounded by red flags, ears of wheat and doves of peace, and five golden stars are interspersed together, symbolizing the beautiful prophecy of ancient China - "Five stars out of the East, good for China". Huabiao, the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Wall, and the Forbidden City are surrounded by red flowers, from the dragon rising in the sky to the white pigeon crane flying with wings, regardless of the east, west, north and south, all gather to the dragon pattern in the center of the frame, the whole picture vividly and artistically shows the thriving and thriving appearance of the great motherland, and shows the rejuvenation and take-off ...... of the ancient Chinese nation in the new era

Regarding the conception of this group of works, Dai Lao once sighed: "Since ancient times, there have been many dragon painters, although the image of the dragon is solemn and atmospheric, but there is no lack of singleness, always accompanied by clouds and rain, and less innovative. When I paint the dragon, I want to draw the new idea of the dragon as a symbol of the spirit of the Chinese nation in this new era, and to draw the emotions and thoughts of the new era as an old artist in my later years, but also to draw the taste and charm of the Chinese New Year, based on traditional art, looking at the times, and pursuing the 'different' in art and thought, which is the core spirit of 'Dai Jia-style' art not forgetting the original, absorbing foreign and facing the future! ”

The dragon travels thousands of miles, and the beauty is shared. Dai Fu welcomes spring, and the beauty prolongs the year!
