Some articles are a little longer and a little slower-paced, but the more you read them, the more enjoyable they become.

As the editorial department of the WeChat "I am on the spot" of the China Journalists Association, we received a high-quality submission, but we were afraid that not many people would read it.

The contributor is Huang Xiaobang, a reporter from the Guangxi branch of Xinhua News Agency, who is very famous in the news industry, especially the 11-year growth process of the "ladder boy" with images, which is a model of practicing the "four forces".

In this article, he reviews the experience in its entirety. Time is silent, and he grows up with his children. "A lot of times, it feels like they're like my children, and I'm always concerned about their growth. ”

Come and listen to him and tell the story of time.

I'm on the spot |We're afraid that not many people will read this manuscript

The author of this article is Huang Xiaobang
(a).During the Spring Festival of another year, the children of Langyong Village, Qibailong Mountain, Dahua Yao Autonomous County, Guangxi Province returned to the mountains, and many people sent me invitations through WeChatReporter Huang, are you still coming to us for the New Year this year? This is a sentence I see every year before the Spring Festival. Now, the children who used to spend time with me have grown up**. Before the holiday this year, they extended an invitation to me. During the Spring Festival of 2023, I paid a return visit to Nongyong Village and stayed for 5 days, which is the third time I have spent the Chinese New Year here in more than ten years. At that time, we agreed to see you again in the Spring Festival in 2024. Guangxi Dahua Yao Autonomous County 700 Lane mountainous area, peaks towering, high mountains and steep roads. For a long time, this mountain has tightly surrounded people, and the high mountains and ravines have not only hindered the pace of development, but also hindered the children's road to study and pursue their dreams. The transportation here is inconvenient, the lack of water and land, and the natural conditions are extremely harshIt is considered "the most inhospitable place for human habitation other than the desert".

Since 2012,I insisted on following and interviewing a large number of children who climbed the cliff "ladder" to go to school。I climbed hundreds of mountain roads in dozens of Yao villages, went deep into campuses, families, fields, etc., and systematically recorded the living conditions and growth environment of childrenA total of more than 100,000 ** and a large number of ** materials were shot, and a large number of manuscripts were broadcast uninterruptedly. From the growth story of teenagers, the journey of chasing dreams and the changes of fate, the work shows that poverty alleviation and rural revitalization are not only to change infrastructure, industry and education, but also to give children a stage to chase their dreams and the power to grow. In 2023, I will write and broadcast a series of manuscripts such as "11 years have passed, and the children who climbed the cliff ladder to school have grown up", "The eleventh year of the "ladder boy" in Dashishan District, the eleventh year of growth in Langyong Village, "Go home, the concern in the thousands of mountains and alleys" and other series of manuscripts, which are the latest results of my more than ten years of continuous in-depth investigation and research at the grassroots level, showing the changes in the fate of a large number of primary school students in Dashishan District, Guangxi, and echoing the great achievements of China's poverty alleviation and rural revitalization since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. (b).Eleven years ago, there was no way out, and after eleven years later, I revisited and got lost, and everything changed when I returned.

"Is it the wrong way again? ”"yes, I think it was this way. ”"Wrong, wrong, backwards. ”Before the Spring Festival in 2023, Brother Zhe, a local cadre, and I entered the Qibailong mountain area again. It's a conversation we often have in the car. Over the years, we have often traveled to the countryside together to conduct interviews, and we are very familiar with the grass and trees here. But now, the construction of the road network in the mountains is constantly improving, and the village roads are criss-crossed, and if we are not careful, we may get lost. Brother Zhe said that after a few months, there will be one more house at this intersection and another road at that mountain pass. And eleven years ago, we came here for the first time to interview. The most we have to talk about is this:"Brother Zhe, wait a while, I want to rest for a while. ”"It's almost there, you hold on for a while. ”

At that time, in July, it took us three and a half hours to drive from the county seat to the school. At that time, the cement road from the township road to the school was the only road in Nongyong Village, and the remaining 20 or so Yao villages were not yet connected to the road. That was the first time we filmed the kids going home from vacation. Under the scorching sun, we climbed the mountain road for two hours and filmed the children climbing the cliff to get home. I had to climb and shoot all the way, and I was very nervous. When resting on the cliff, my clothes were soaked, and my hands and feet were shaking. At that time, I had only one strong thought in my heart: I would never want to climb such a mountain road again...... again

Nowadays, it only takes about two hours to drive from the county seat to Nongyong Village. At the entrance of the village, young people kept coming around. "Uncle Huang, I'm Meng Xuantai, graduated from a technical school, and now I'm in Guangdong. ”"I'm Meng Xuanren, and I'm studying in Liaoning now, and I'm a sophomore. ”When they were in elementary school, I spent a lot of time with them every year. They took me to the mountains to see the scenery, found wild fruits for me to eat, and taught me to play their little games. In those years, the children slept in the crowded Chase bunks, and I slept in the teachers' dormitories, classrooms, and offices.

In 2015, I spent the Spring Festival in Nongyong Village. Because of the lack of water in the mountains, I brought a large bucket of water from the county town to wash my face and brush my teeth, and slept in the car at night. In addition to the interview, I made connections, ranging from building dormitories and repairing water cabinets to coordinating the donation of bed frames, quilts, mats, and lunch boxes. Improving the learning environment for children in many ways, there was a time when they didn't have to bring too many household utensils to school. During the Spring Festival this year, Meng Xuanren and Meng Xuantai warmly invited me to live at his houseThey said that now the family has built a three-story small building and a large water tank, which is very convenient. "When we were in the fifth grade, we moved into a new dormitory building with mats, quilts, lunch boxes, ......We boarders don't have to bring household utensils to school. ”"Uncle Huang, you must be helping us too. ”

Studying in technical schools, going to university, working, and even some have already got married, and the children who climbed the ladder, climbed the cliff, and crowded the chase shop have all grown up. In the Spring Festival of 2023, I didn't shoot many, many ** as before, but more quietly listened and felt. Before the Spring Festival this year, Lantian De got married. When he told me the news, I felt a little sorry. When we met during the Spring Festival last year, he asked for my advice and imagined the future: after graduating from technical school, he would continue to study for a junior college or even a bachelor's degree. Lan Tiande said that in June 2023, his father was seriously ill and the medical expenses were very high. He can only earn money first and start a family, so as to fulfill his filial piety. Now that my father is recovering well, he feels that everything is worth it.

He was also very grateful for my comfort and support during his father's serious illness, and Lan Tiande sent me this message: "I felt another kind of fatherly love like a mountain. ”Meng Qiuyan from Langlei Village is now a junior at Guangxi Medical University, and every Spring Festival, she sends me a blessing message and invites her to celebrate the New Year at home. She said in the Xinhua News Agency article that she was lucky to have someone to record their growth, which was very warm and gave them strength.

"A lot of times, it feels like they're like my children, and I'm always concerned about their growth. Their life experience is hardship, hardship, twists and turns, confusion, joy, harvest, success, hope, and growth experience, which is an inevitability of every development process. (c).Looking back on my first visit, I was struck by the "schools and villages on the cliff ladder". The recording of the story also begins at this moment.

It was July 2012, and the children were climbing mountains and mountains to get to school: climbing ladders and cliffs, full of thorns and hardships. As the interview deepened, the children's learning and life were in extreme poverty.

At that time, this was a representative corner of poverty in Dashishan District, Guangxi, and it was also a difficult "hard bone" in poverty alleviation, so I decided to choose this place to take root, starting from the children's study path and "dissecting sparrows" - campus construction, teachers, sports activities, the fate of people, family situations, village changes, etc.

A topic is a branch, a **, a paragraph of text is a leaf, and every moment of joy and sorrow is the nutrients in the branches. I likened reporting on the squatting in the mountainous area of Qibailong to planting a "tree" in the local area. For example, in 2012, I successively published manuscripts such as "The Study Road of Boarding Students in the Mountainous Areas" and "The Road to Study on the Cliff", which reflected the difficulty of the children in Langyong Village and Nonglei Village to go to school, which to a certain extent promoted the local solution to the children's traffic problems, such as the construction of a cement road to Nongdingtun in Nongyong Village in 2015In the village of Langlei, a guardrail was built on the edge of the cliff where children must go to school, and a few years later, Habaotun was relocated to the side of the road. "Hot Mountain Campus Basketball Game", "Basketball - Teachers and Students Love Basketball in Mountainous Areas", "Football - "Football Dream" of Children in Mountain Villages", "Sports Dream in the Mountains", "Physical Education Classes for Primary School Students in Poor Mountainous Areas", "Little Ball Players in the Cold Winter", etc., reflect the current situation of sports in mountain schools and have attracted widespread attention from the Party Committee and the society. "The Bittersweet Summer Vacation of the Sheep Baby", "The Summer Vacation of the Children in the Mountain Lane", "Childhood on the Back", "Poverty Alleviation is Changing the Life of Summer Vacation", etc., reflect the different childhood in the mountains from daily life, allowing the outside world to see a real and different childhood world. "Farewell to the "Datongpu" Langyong Primary School" and "For the Boarding Children in the Mountainous Areas to Sleep Peacefully - Guangxi Tackles the "Datongpu"", from the details of accommodation, reflects the children's living conditions in the school and the efforts of the local party committee. There are many such manuscripts that reflect campus learning and extracurricular life, which comprehensively reflect the campus life ecology of children. In addition, I also photographed and wrote a large number of manuscripts that reflect local production and life, folk culture, poverty alleviation and other aspects to show the overall situation of the mountainous areas where the children live. Such as "The Party of Langyong Village", "Poverty Alleviation and Revitalization on the Tip of the Tongue", "20 Months, Running 50,000 Kilometers, Replacing 15 Tires......A large number of manuscripts, such as "The First Secretary of the Extremely Poor Village in the Race Against Time", "The Architectural Changes in the Mountain Alleys", "The Story of Water", "The Future of the Poor Mountain Villages", and "Aerial Photography of the Poverty Alleviation Road in Dashishan District, Guangxi", show the whole picture of the mountain world in a panoramic way and help the outside world better understand the lives of children. (iv).Looking back, the "cliff ladder" of the year has now walked out of a diverse life. Twelve years ago, I followed the children of Nongyong Village to school and home many times, climbing a "ladder" more than 20 meters high on the way. At that time, Meng Xuantai was only 8 years old, because he was too young, he needed his brother to lead him in front, and his sisters in the back to climb the suspension ladder. The 11-year-old brother Meng Xuanren also carried the brothers' daily necessities and school supplies, and it took more than an hour to reach the school each time.

The hard life of their youth allowed the children in the mountains to share the responsibility of life in addition to studying. Herding sheep, sewing clothes, cooking, carrying water, and planting corn, Meng Xuanren and Meng Xuantai learned almost all life skills from an early age. Compared with the "ladder" road to school in Nongyong Village, the cliffs in Langlei Village next door make the road to school more difficult for children. Every day, they pass over a cliff more than 200 meters long and more than 100 meters deep. At that time, 11-year-old Meng Qiuyan, as the elder sister of the senior class, had to walk at the end of the line every time. Grandpa told her to take care of her younger siblings and pay attention to safety.

Meng Qiuyan said that once on the way to school, a sister accidentally rolled off the cliff when she didn't pay attention to the road under her feet when she crossed the cliff, but fortunately got stuck by stones and trees at a depth of more than 10 meters. When the teacher heard about it, he rushed to the rescue. That sister still has a long scar on her forehead. So every time she climbs the cliff, she feels that it is very dangerous, especially when the road is slippery in rainy days, she needs to use her hands and feet to pass with fear. must study hard and get out of the mountains, this dream has always supported Meng Qiuyan. 10-year-old Meng Keyou has just entered the second grade, and it is supposed to be in the fourth grade. "I didn't go to school until I was 9 years old because I was worried that I would be too young to climb the cliff to go to school," says Monkoyo. Eleven years ago, Meng Xuantai hoped to go out as soon as possible and work to earn money to support his parents. In his memory, most of his fathers, including his father Meng Guisu, went out to work all year round. Every year before the Spring Festival, my father has to carry a heavy bag and New Year's goods to walk the mountain roadNo matter how late it was, Meng Xuantai and his brother would wait at the door, looking at the mountain col in the distance: what had changed to his father, who had not seen him for a year, and what gifts he had brought back......At that time, my brother Meng Xuanren said,His dream is to be admitted to university and use knowledge to change his fate.

As the children grow up, the mountains change with each passing day. The "Tianlu Road Network Project" made the children's road to school no longer difficult, the "Nutrition Improvement Project" allowed the children to bid farewell to soybean bibimbap, and the "Datongpu Project" improved the children's accommodation conditions. With the vicissitudes of the mountains and the growth of the children**, the first "tree" I planted in the mountainous area of Qibailong in Guangxi Province also flourished and gradually blossomed and bore fruit. In 2021, Meng Qiuyan was admitted to Guangxi Medical University with excellent results. In the same year, Meng Xuanren was also admitted to Liaoning Provincial Transportation College, and his 19-year-old brother Meng Xuantai worked in an auto repair factory in Guangdong after graduating from technical school. After graduating from the health school, 21-year-old Meng Fusong returned to his hometown to become a village doctor; 21-year-old Meng Rouyu has graduated from kindergarten and is now learning dance while working, chasing her childhood dream of singing and dancing; 24-year-old Meng Xuanwei, after graduating from technical school, worked in a factory in Nanning, and is now married and has children.

Today's new changes mean that yesterday is history, and photojournalists are under tremendous pressure to race against time. Thinking and confusion, a sense of mission and urgency, drive me forward. The children also have a special affection for me, the uncle who accompanies them over the mountains to go to school, to graze, to harvest corn, sweat together, and grow up together. One year, I lived in the school for more than two monthsEvery day, I receive thousands of small pieces of paper from the children, and there are only about 200 students in the school. The most common greetings are "Uncle Huang, I wish you a long and 100 years old!" ”In the Spring Festival of 2023, I spent it again in Nongyong Village. When the children return to their hometowns for the Chinese New Year, they will take the initiative to tell me how they are doing. Every time I celebrate the Spring Festival in the village, many villagers will invite me to my home to eat Chinese New Year's Eve meal, and as soon as I was about to eat at the previous house, a group of young people would come over and pull me to the next house to eat, and then the whole table would go to the next house to visit ......The Chinese New Year's Eve dinner was eaten one after another, from morning to late night. In the past 11 years, the great changes in the appearance and living conditions of the mountain township have become the memories engraved in the heart of the mountain girl's growth. I also deeply rooted myself in the mountains, integrated with the people in the mountains, walked on the road together, and witnessed growth together. Since the first report "The Study Road of Boarding Students in the Mountainous Areas" was issued in September 2012, the series of reports on "Yaoshan Squatting Video Diary" has lasted for more than ten years, and hundreds of groups have been broadcast. For more than 10 years, I have climbed mountain roads in dozens of villages and run between dozens ......of schoolsThe coverage area of the report radiates from Nongyong Village to villages and schools in the surrounding two counties, and has a lasting impact on society.

10 years of trees, 100 years of afforestation. I think the same is true for photo reporting. For a photojournalist, documenting the process is far more difficult than presenting the results, and documenting changes is far more complex than documenting moments. Video recording is not to wait for a result, but to water a future. Squatting research requires a certain scope and a certain number to make the works more in-depth, thick, and convincing. How deep and fine the roots are, how long and how wide the life of the work can be extended.
