A few days ago, the carbon footprint system mapping work organized by Tianjin Binhai High-tech Zone was completed, and the first batch of 10 companies received the 2023 carbon footprint report. Taking this carbon footprint mapping as an opportunity, the high-tech zone helps enterprises find out their own carbon background, tap carbon reduction potential, enhance product competitiveness, and promote regional carbon reduction.
As an important indicator for calculating the carbon emissions of products, carbon footprint usually refers to the total carbon emissions generated by products from raw material processing, transportation, production to factory sales, etc. It is understood that the European Union has started the declaration of carbon footprint last year. In the future, carbon tariffs will greatly increase the cost of China's export-oriented enterprises.
In order to effectively respond to the challenge of carbon tariffs, the high-tech zone has carried out systematic mapping through platform collection and combined with on-site visits and surveys, found out the base number of affected enterprises and studied countermeasures. According to the survey, a total of 30 export-oriented enterprises or key emitting enterprises in the zone are facing carbon tariff pressure, and most of the leading industrial enterprises in the high-tech zone such as Lishen Battery and Siemens Electric are listed.
The relevant person in charge of the Economic Development Bureau of the High-tech Zone said that the High-tech Zone adopts the form of first-class subsidies and hires a third-party testing agency with international certification qualifications to provide carbon footprint reporting services for enterprises. At present, the carbon footprint reports of the first batch of 10 companies, including Siemens Electric, Lishen Battery, Tiandi Weiye, and Pharmaceutical Research Institute, have all been compiled. Combined with the results of the report, many companies found that the energy consumption of the power link is high. The high-tech zone is connected with the power trading center, and two electricity sales companies have been introduced to provide "sufficient quantity and low price" green power resources to meet the green power needs of key enterprises in the zone and achieve carbon reduction from the source.
Tianjin Juyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which received the carbon footprint report, is a subsidiary of Lishen Battery, and Jia Xueheng, general manager of the company, told reporters: "We are mainly engaged in the research and development and production of green high-energy lithium-ion batteries, of which nearly 50% of consumer battery products are exported overseas. In recent years, it has mainly reduced consumption through equipment upgrading and production process optimization, focusing on breakthroughs in 'points', but there is no connection to the surface and systematic analysis. After reading the carbon footprint report, Jia Xueheng found that the company's purchased electricity and heat consumption accounted for as much as 90% of the total carbon emissions, so it will reduce energy consumption by laying rooftop photovoltaics and purchasing green electricity in the later stage.
Carbon footprint management generally goes through the process of finding out the carbon background, setting scientific carbon targets, implementing carbon emission reduction, disclosing carbon information, and achieving carbon neutrality. Through the carbon footprint report, enterprises can understand their main carbon emission links and emissions, and guide follow-up energy conservation and carbon reduction, production organization and other work in combination with carbon reduction suggestions. The relevant person in charge of Tianxiang (Tianjin) quality and technical service said.
The relevant person in charge of the management committee of the high-tech zone said that the high-tech zone will continue to guide enterprises to understand and enhance the importance of carbon footprint assessment, further improve the policy support in the field of "double carbon", carry out the "double carbon" industry theme investment, and focus on accelerating the cultivation and improvement of industrial ecology in related technical services and other fields.
