South Korea Walk into Yeouido, Seoul, near the Han River

Although I have traveled back and forth to the banks of the Han River many times, I have never had the opportunity to get close to the water of the Han River. In my opinion, the Han River is not only the mother river of Seoul, but also nurtures the spirit of the Korean nation. So I must take a look at the water of the Han River. Many people recommended me to go to the Hangang Citizen Park in Yeouido.

After leaving Hongik University, I took Line 2 at the subway station of the same name, then transferred to Line 5 and went straight to Yeouido Ferry Station. Unexpectedly, as soon as you get out of the subway station, you will be greeted by a large expanse of open green space in Hangang Citizen Park on the south side. Of course, there are lawns and bushes, as well as small squares that are convenient for movement. There may be an event in recent days, and I saw a lot of staff building the stage. Many locals picnic and laugh on the grass. Not far away, groups of boys and girls rode bicycles in a flash. It turned out to be a large park for relaxation.

Yeouido is an olive-shaped island located in the middle of the Han River, on the southerner coast. It is said that it was originally a military airport, but now it is the CBD of Seoul. Modern buildings are starting to rise from the ground. Obviously, without the cherry blossoms of April, Yeouido is a bit bland, and the cloudy and gloomy weather on that day always looms in the mist of downtown Seoul on the north bank of the Junggang River.

I finally came to the water's edge. The water in the Han River seems to be of decent quality, at least it doesn't smell at all. All kinds of boats on the river shuttle back and forth, so lively. From time to time, I saw some young Korean men and women sitting on the shore embracing each other, quietly watching the ripples ......The picture at this time is really a bit romantic, which can't help but remind people of some beautiful scenes in Korean dramas.

Walking along the river, I always feel that the bridges on the Han River on this part of Yeouido are a bit dense. Curious, I patiently counted them. Originally, there were three bridges. The easternmost side is called "Sogang Bridge", the middle side is called "Mapo Bridge", and the west side is "Wonhyo Bridge". Of course, I walked along the waterfront from the east to the western tip of Yeouido. If you look to the west, you can see the green "Hangang Railway Bridge". This section of the river really seems to have become a "bridge museum".

Yeouido is undoubtedly the most concentrated pier in Seoul for boat tours on the Han River. There are many large and small piers along the banks of the Han River. But I didn't have any desire to take a boat ride on the Han River. I just want to walk quietly. Enjoy the tranquility of this place.

Time flies so fast, and dusk is coming in the blink of an eye. What is rare is that the thick clouds finally show a brilliant glow. This was the perfect end to my trip to Yeouido. Goodbye Han River! Goodbye Yeouido!
