Once upon a time there was a clever fox who often proudly flaunted his wisdom to other animals. One day, a cat said to the fox, "You are smart, but you are not as nimble and agile as I am." Unconvinced, the fox replied, "I'm not clumsy at all, and if you think you're flexible, look at me!" So, the fox suggested that the cats go with them to challenge the story ...... crossing the river
On this day, the cat and the fox came to the river together, and in front of them was a great rushing river, and on the meadow on the other side of the river was a tall tree, and the fresh and attractive fruit was on that tree. The fox came up with a plan: "I'll jump to the other side and pick up fruit for you." The cat agreed without much thought. And so the fox challenge began, pacing around the water's edge at a rapid pace, showing off its agility. The cats lay leisurely on the shore basking in the sun, yawning and squinting at the fox's show. The fox finally jumped into the water, swam very quickly, and then climbed up from the opposite shore with all his might. The cat felt that the river was a little cold, so he decided to sit and wait for the fox.
However, when the fox turned back and threw fruit at the cat, the cat closed its eyes. The fox cried out in surprise: "Quick, wake up! You have to catch the fruit! The cat replied indifferently, "I don't know how to swim at all, and I won't be able to eat fruit if I go to the other side." At this moment, a gust of wind blew, and the fruit on the tree fell, and the cat raised his head and said happily, "Look, the fruit has fallen, so there is no need to bother you." The fox felt a little embarrassed, but still reluctant to lose, and said, "It's only because of the strong wind that the fruit falls." I'm not losing to you! The cat lazily said, "Oh, the fruit has fallen, of course you don't have to give it to me." But, you have to admit that I'm no clumsier than you. The fox was speechless.
This fable tells us that bluffing does not hide weakness in strength, and that self-righteous pride will only lead to an embarrassing situation in the end. Instead of being self-deceptive and arrogant, it is better to be truly humble and cautious about your abilities, so that you can move forward steadily on the road of life.
