The reporter learned that on the afternoon of January 30, at the 10th National Congress of the Chinese Artists Association, Fan Di'an was elected as the 10th chairman of the Chinese Artists Association. The conference also elected the new council and presidium of the Chinese Artists Association. Gao Shiming, President of the China Academy of Art and Chairman of the Zhejiang Artists Association, was elected as the 10th Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association.

The members of the presidium of the 10th Council of the Chinese Artists Association are as follows: Chairman: Fan Di'an, Vice Chairman (14 people in total, in order of surname strokes): Ma Fenghui, Wang Laiwen, Liu Jie, Liu Wanming, Qi Haifeng, Li Xiang, Li Xiangqun, Wu Weishan, Lu Qinglong, Lin Lan (female), Yi Zhenming, Pang Maokun, Jia Guangjian, Gao Shiming.

Gao Shiming, born in August 1976, is the president of the China Academy of Art, a professor, a doctoral supervisor, a cultural master of the Central Propaganda Department and a talent of the "four batches", a leading talent in national philosophy and social sciences, the chairman of the Zhejiang Artists Association, and the deputy director of the Curatorial Committee of the first China Artists Association.

Gao Shiming put forward the educational ideal of "no wall college" and the concept of "art education", and is determined to create a global and local two-wheel drive, humanities and science and technology two-way communication of art education, with the idea of "college is the community, education is communication", deeply rooted in the land of China, committed to building a "people-centered, local as the college, carry forward the Chinese spirit" promising learning, and cultivate Chinese Renaissance people in the new era.

Literature and art are not only witnesses of history, but also the driving force of history. Literature and art in the new era adhere to a kind of active realism. Artists have created an epic realism, a Promethean realism, from the realities of the lives of the people of the new era. As realists, we should not simply imitate and copy reality, but participate in the emerging history and the world in formation, discover the inner character, value and spiritual motivation of the Chinese in the new era in the practice of daily life, and compose a new epic of the Chinese nation. Gao Shiming thinks.

In recent years, Gao Shiming founded China's first art curation major, and successively founded the China Academy of Art, the School of Innovative Design, the Visual China Research Institute, the China Art Education Research Institute, and the Asian Thought Organization "Inter-Asian Academy". His research interests include contemporary art, social thought, and curatorial practice.

We want to carry forward the educational ideals of that generation. For Mr. Cai Yuanpei, aesthetics, education, and ethics are the "trinity" of building modern China, aesthetics is the method, education is the process, and ethics is the foundation, and its purpose is to establish people at the three levels of self, society, and the state. And art is the way to establish people through the three. Gao Shiming said. In the ideals of Lin Fengmian's generation, education is not a top-down education, nor is it limited to the cultivation of specialized talents, but through the art movement to enlighten people's hearts, awaken the people, promote social progress, guide people's hearts upward, and establish people through art. In Gao Shiming's view, because of this ideal, the "Road of National Beauty" has developed a road of cultivating virtue and enlightening the soul.

In addition, as a curator, Gao Shiming has curated a series of large-scale exhibitions and academic programs, including the research project series "Geographical Edge: Migration and Geopolitics in Asian Contemporary Art" (2002-2004), "Image Survival: The Fifth Shanghai Biennale" (2004), "Saying Goodbye to Postcolonialism: The Third Guangzhou Triennial" (2008), "Touring Rehearsal: The 8th Shanghai Biennale" (2010), and "From the West to Middle Earth: A Dialogue between Indian and Chinese Social Thought" (2010-2011), "A Changing World, Changing Imagination: Shanghai Forum on Asian Thought" (2012), "Process: The First West Bund Biennale of Architecture and Contemporary Art" (2013), "Report on Asian Social Thought Movements: The First Human Thought Forum" (2014), "Sixty Years of the Third World: Commemoration of the Bandung Conference Series" (Cochin, Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Naha, Hangzhou, 2015), "Shanshui Declaration: Fuchun Mountain Pavilion Opening Exhibition" (2016), "Future** Art Manifesto" (Strasbourg, 2017), "Panel 21: Roundtable Forum on Art Education in the Twenty-first Century" (2018), "From To: The Core Scene of Art Education in China" (San Francisco, 2018), etc. He has also served as an academic committee member of international cultural and artistic platforms such as the Venice Biennale for a long time, and has been selected as one of the 100 influential people of Chinese contemporary art for many years.

He has also published a large number of scholarly books, including Mirrors and Masks, Everything Deadly Is Unspeakable, Books of Action: On Curatorial Writing, The Idea of Vision, The Edge of the Place: A Visual Report on Contemporary Art and Geopolitics in Asia, Saying Goodbye to Postcolonialism, Touring Rehearsals, The Ho Chi Minh Trail, The State of Postcolonial Knowledge: A Reader of Modern Asian Thought, Process, From the West to Middle-earth: A Dialogue between Indian and Chinese Social Thought, Three Art Worlds: One Hundred Objects of Art in Modern Chinese History, " "Human Thoughts" (12 volumes), "Modern Thought in Asia, Africa and Latin America" series (5 volumes), "Book of Action: Art Curatorial Series" (4 volumes), and "The Road to National America" (18 volumes, 44 volumes), etc.
