As an HR, isn't it her job to recruit and lay off employees? Why would she go against the company's requirements in the matter of laying off employees? Since he wants to portray Fang Shiming into a tragic character, he also arranges her to a position of HR supervisor that everyone hates in most cases. 
Such a job that naturally has a nasty gene may really make people feel sympathy or compassion for it. At least at the end of episode 1, I couldn't establish the empathy of Shiyu through the narration of "To Love for a Long Time". Of course, all this unreasonableness is based on the plot of more than 40 minutes in the first episode, maybe "Love for a Long Time" will be like most phenomenal masterpieces, with unpredictable reversals and follow-ups waiting for us to look forward to.
