In order to attract Chinese manufacturers in Japan, TSMC began to compromise and build factories!

Is it for Chinese manufacturers? The Japanese side gave a very attractive "price code", and TSMC had no choice but to make concessions in the construction of the factory.

TSMC's production base in the United States, dubbed the "face project" by the industry, has been hailed as the worst in history, especially after the United States imposed strict restrictions on it, these multinational companies have dismissed the idea of building factories here.

According to Bloomberg, TSMC's second production base in Arizona will be postponed until this year, but this is just talk and is likely to be canceled.

And with Liu Deyin's retirement, TSMC has also set its sights on other countries, because China does not allow them to enter, so Japan is the best choice.

Japan is half of the birthplace of semiconductors, in the last century, Japanese companies in many aspects have surpassed American companies, but they have been ruthlessly suppressed by American companies, which is why American companies have been able to go to this step some time ago, but the United States has not seized this opportunity, and is still trying to maintain its own "scientific and technological hegemony", the result can be imagined.

Unlike the strict requirements of the United States, the Japanese side has shown great sincerity, not only giving them a lot of money, but also helping them with land problems, and now the relationship between the two companies is not bad, with a 22 nm semiconductor plant coming into operation, followed by a second.

What exactly is Japan's intention?

But this plan was quickly denied by the outside world, Japan did not have much demand for Japanese chips, originally everyone thought that the production in the United States was only because the American factory was not built, so TSMC decided to continue to expand the scale of production, but if you look closely, it is useless.

At present, Japan is still building the most advanced 22nm and 28nm chips, and the design of these chips is similar to that of Huaxia, and TSMC's technology has not been moved from Japan, obviously wanting to sell their own technology to them.

After the agreement between the United States, Japan and the Netherlands came into effect, Japan took the initiative to ask TSMC to set up factories in China, and Japan was the first country to impose sanctions on Chinese companies and got the corresponding lifting of restrictions, of course, they want to take advantage of this to revive the domestic semiconductor industry.

Judging from these data, there are only more than a dozen companies with foundry technology in Japan, and it does not take too much time to build new factories, that is, the chips imported by TSMC from Japan are likely to be shipped back to China.

In a sense, they seem to be selling a "wedding dress" for TSMC, but Japan will certainly not be so kind, improving its own technology is still secondary, and Chinese companies are the most important.

Japan also knows that the US blockade of chips will not be lifted in a short time, and China has more than 2,800 companies without chips, and the number is still increasing, and there are simply not enough factories in China.

This is also the fact that Japan has been banning the production of chips and not allowing China to build more chip factories.
