TDK EPCOS varistors T14 series T20 series

Mondo Home Updated on 2024-02-15

The new series of TDK EPCOS varistors consists of a thermally coupled fuse connected to a 14 mm (T14 series) or 20 mm (T20 series) disc varistor. The T14 series (B72214T*) is available in a voltage range of 130 VRMS to 420 VRMS. Its inrush current capability meets the IEC-61000-4-5 standard and can withstand inrush currents up to 8 20 S pulses up to 6,000 A in a single shot with a power dissipation of 06 W with dimensions of 17 mm x 216 mm x 13 mm。

The T20 series has a voltage range of 130 Vrms to 1000 Vrms and a surge current capability of up to 10,000 A (8 20 s) with a power dissipation of 10w。Depending on the operating voltage range, the size of the product ranges from 22 mm x 26 mm x 12 mm to 275 mm x 27.5 mm x 18.5 mm.

If the thermally protected varistor overheats, the fuse will blow and disconnect from the grid to prevent the printed circuit board** or burnout the components around the varistor. The fuse and varistor are housed in the same plastic housing, which is made of flame-retardant material and serves as a package for the varistor. The new component has three leads: two for the connection circuit and one as a monitor output, which can be used to display the component status via LEDs.

Thermofuse thermally protected varistors are used in household appliances, power supplies, photovoltaic inverters, frequency converters, lighting system ballasts, surge voltage protectors, and electronic meters.
