IT House reported on February 4 that the "Resident Evil" series has always been one of Capcom's most popular IPs, and its new works emerge in endlessly, and there will be a new work to meet players almost every year. Since its inception in 1996, this horror survival classic has been updated at an astonishing frequency, with the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake, the 2020 Resident Evil 3 remake, the 2021 Resident Evil: Village multiplayer Resident Evil re:verse, and the 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake.
However, 2024 seems to be breaking this convention, and no news of any new titles has been announced yet. However, well-known whistleblower AestheticGamer (aka Dusk Golem) recently revealed that he currently has information on five Resident Evil projects in development. One of them, of course, is the highly anticipated Resident Evil 9, but the content of several other works is unknown.
According to the leaks, "Resident Evil 9" will continue the storyline of "Resident Evil 7", which may mean that it will continue the setting of first-person perspective, but the specific details have yet to be officially confirmed. Previously, AestheticGamer had said that Resident Evil 9 is expected to be released in 2025, so fans may be able to learn more about this mysterious new title soon.
As for several other Resident Evil projects, they may be completely new or remakes of existing titles. For example, many fans would like to see a remake of Resident Evil: Codename Veronica, but Capcom has not announced anything about it yet. In addition, there are rumors that Resident Evil 5 may be remade, but this is just speculation. There are several other classics in the series that are also suitable for remakes, but fans should still look at these revelations rationally and wait for official news.
IT House noted that although there are no new releases in 2024, Capcom confirmed that "Resident Evil 4: ** Edition" will be re-released. The version will be released on February 20 and will include the base version of the game, DLC Divergence, and additional DLC packs.
