Nvidia recently launched a new version of the RTX 3050 graphics card, and the biggest change is that the video memory capacity has been reduced to 6GB. This graphics card is based on GA107 cores and has 2304 CUDA cores, 64 tensor cores, and 16 ray tracing units, with a base frequency of 1042MHz and a maximum boost frequency of 1470MHz.
Although the memory capacity has been reduced, the bit width remains the same at 96-bit, while the equivalent frequency remains at 14GHz. However, the bandwidth is compressed to 168 GBS, which is 25% less than the 8 GB version.
In terms of power consumption, the power consumption of the whole card of the new RTX 3050 has been greatly reduced to 70W, which is almost halved, so there is no longer a need for an auxiliary power supply interface.
According to dealer news, the price of the RTX 3050 is expected to be $179 (about 1,287 yuan), and the price in the domestic market is expected to be no more than 1,300 yuan.
Compared to the 8GB version, the new RTX 3050 has a reduction in the number of CUDA cores, memory bandwidth, and GPU frequency. Among them, the number of CUDA cores has been reduced by 10%, the memory capacity has been reduced by 25%, and the bandwidth has been reduced by 25%. GPU frequencies were also reduced by 32% and 17%, respectively.
Overall, Nvidia's new RTX 3050 is a bit lower in performance than the 8GB version, but it's more affordable. It's a cost-effective option for those on a budget.
