Manila, February 13 (Reporter Fan Fan) On the occasion of the arrival of the Year of the Dragon in the lunar calendar, the Makati City**, Manila City** City Council, Quezon City**, and various organizations in the Philippine-Chinese community in the Capital Region of the Philippines celebrated the Chinese New Year with millions of people.

As the financial center of the Philippines, Makati City is one of the most prosperous cities in the Manila Capital Region and is home to most of the foreign missions in the Philippines. On February 9, the city of Makati, Philippines** held the opening ceremony of the 2024 Chinese New Year celebration at the Golorita Event Center. Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian attended and delivered a speech as the Guest of Honour. Makati Mayor Abby Binet and her husband, Philippine Congressman Campos, envoys of relevant countries in the Philippines and Makati City*** attended the event to welcome the Lunar New Year.

Manila's Chinatown has a history of 430 years. This year, the Manila City Council, the Manila Chinese Community Development Committee, and various Chinese community organizations jointly held an annual series of activities to welcome the Chinese New Year and celebrate the 430th anniversary of the establishment of Manila Chinatown. About 50,000 people attended the Chinese New Year's Eve celebration on the evening of February 9. On February 10, Ambassador Huang Xilian attended the Chinese New Year Float Parade. During the parade, Chinese New Year red envelopes, candies, rice cakes and other festive foods will be distributed. Local people chanted "Wishing you prosperity" and "Happy New Year" in Chinese to send blessings to the friendly relations between the Philippines and China.

Covering an area of nearly 7,000 square kilometers, Quezon City's Chinatown is one of the largest in the world. Quezon City** launched a Chinatown Cycling Tour during the Chinese New Year, allowing participants to explore the area's landmarks, including the Holy Lotus Temple, the headquarters of the Tzu Chi** Buddhist Humanitarian Organization, the Philippine-China Friendship Memorial Arch, the Toy Museum, and more. In addition, the Chinatown Food & Crafts Fair will also be held with different stalls, Chinese delicacies and unique handicrafts, etc.

At the scene of the Spring Festival celebration, there was an endless stream of Filipino people, who stopped to actively experience and take photos to commemorate the event, constantly feeling the profound heritage and unique charm of Chinese culture, and the atmosphere was festive and warm.
