Carry forward the spirit of volunteer service and strive to be an outstanding youth of the times. In order to actively call on contemporary college students to integrate into the society, contribute to the society, make full use of their knowledge to carry forward traditional virtues, and care for the elderly in rural areas. On February 5, the third practice group of the 2023 class of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation carried out a volunteer service activity with the theme of "Helping Rural Revitalization and Spreading Love and Warmth" in Huangxin Village, Kuiju Street, Changyi City, Weifang City, Shandong Province.

At 9 a.m., the volunteers were led by the staff to this village with a history of planting hawthorn for 100 years. The volunteers visited the elderly over 70 years old living alone and the disabled in the village, and as the New Year was approaching, the volunteers had a clear division of labor, dusted and renovated, and cleaned the homes of the elderly. Volunteers and comrades of the village committee wrote Spring Festival couplets and cut window flowers, and the small hut had the taste of the New Year.

At the same time, in order to further understand the needs of the masses and deepen the safety awareness of the elderly, the practice team specially investigated the physical condition of the elderly in the village, learned about the local heating situation on the spot, and repeatedly told the elderly to pay attention to fire safety and do a good job in personal safety protection. At the same time, it also popularizes anti-fraud knowledge to the elderly, continuously enhances the legal awareness of the elderly and their ability to recognize and prevent fraud, and does their best to enable the elderly in every village to have a good life.

The cold winter is bleak, and the feelings are warm. The "three to the countryside" volunteer service activities during the winter vacation not only brought warmth to the elderly, but also made the young students understand that they have warmth, are willing to help, and are willing to take the initiative to ask for help when the society and the times need it, dedicate their youth strength to volunteer service, and play a hymn of happiness in practice!
