On January 30th, the New Era Civilization Practice Institute of Exhibition Road Street, Xicheng District, held the first lecture of the "Collecting Grandpa Storytelling" series of activities for the young people in the jurisdiction - the Chinese stories in the New Year paintings, guiding the children to taste the "New Year's flavor" from the New Year paintings, feel feelings from the collection, and learn knowledge from the exhibition.

This event invited Qin Jie, a member of the Xicheng District Federation of Social Sciences and a senior collector, who is a retired party member of the Fourth Party Branch of the Xinhua East Community in Zhanzhan Road Street, with a collection history of half a century, and is keen to share his collection and stories. On the day of the event, he selected his best works from the hundreds of traditional New Year paintings in his collection, bringing a "civilization dialogue" through time and space and a unique "cultural micro-lesson" to the young people in the jurisdiction.

As soon as they entered the exhibition hall, the children were attracted by the dazzling array of New Year paintings, and Qin Jie sat among the children, telling the stories behind the collections and the stories behind them.

What's going on with New Year's paintings? Why two? How to paste New Year's pictures? Qin Jie answered the teenagers' questions about the New Year paintings one by one, and he was very impressed by the creative themes of traditional New Year paintings, printing techniques, and the selection of paper pigments, which opened the eyes of the children, and also felt the difference between woodblock prints, engraving printing and hand-painted New Year paintings.

In the New Year's paintings, festive dolls, popular historical allusions, and patterns containing auspicious meanings leap onto the paper. Qin Jie accompanied the children, patiently answering everyone's questions, the children watched and listened, sometimes falling into contemplation, sometimes being amused by the cute image in the New Year painting and Grandpa Qin's humorous language, and feeling the folk customs of the New Year.

It is reported that "Collecting Grandpa Storytelling" is a new era of civilization practice project launched by Exhibition Road Street, and a series of theme activities will be held this year, striving to use a collection of small stories to explain the "big truth" thoroughly, and make the story of "Grandpa Collection" "live" in the practice of civilization, and strive to form a number of practical examples of civilized practice and theoretical innovation of volunteer service.
