"Squad leader, you know what? My father is Zhang Zhixin, the commander of our division. With that, he turned around and ran towards the battlefield with determination, as if he had foreseen his fate.
The squad leader was shocked by his bravery and tenacity, he never thought that this scout who had charged into battle in the past would be the son of the division commander! At just 21 years old, Zhang Zhang proved his worth with his actions, and his sacrifice is deeply regrettable.
He held on in the hail of bullets and used his life to cover the successful retreat of his teammates, but he remained in the quagmire of 267 Heights forever.
Zhang Zhixin is the commander of the 160th Division of the 54th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and he hates his children for "going through the back door". However, on February 17, 1979, the day when the Chinese border guards fought back in self-defense against the Vietnamese troops who had invaded Chinese territory, he "defy the law" and used his authority to transfer his son Zhang Zhang to his own team and send him to the front line.
Why is there such a fierce conflict between China and Vietnam? This goes back to the modern history of European powers establishing colonies in Asia and Africa. China and Vietnam, which are weakened, have become "food on the plate" in their eyes.
Vietnam became a French colony, while China was encroached upon by various powers, the most important of which was Japan. In this case, the two countries were soon united, and the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh had participated in the Great Revolution in China, and when the Workers' Party of Vietnam was founded in 1951, the idea of *** was written into the party constitution as a guiding ideology.
In November 1955, the capitalist countries led by the United States supported South Vietnam and supported Ngo Dinh Diem to set up a puppet** to interfere in Vietnam's internal affairs. China and the Soviet Union sided with North Vietnam, for which China provided a $20 billion donation, even though China itself was poor at the time.
In 1969, the conflict between China and the Soviet Union broke out on Zhenbao Island, and relations broke down. In the mid-70s, Vietnam completed the War of Resistance Against the United States, but with the support of the Soviet Union, saw China as the "number one enemy".
After 1975, Vietnam's Le Duan clique was frantically anti-China, provoking military conflicts and trying to encroach on China's borders. China could not bear it anymore and decided to fight back in self-defense. On February 17, 1979, the Chinese border guards fought back in self-defense, and on March 16, they won a complete victory and returned to their motherland.
The war was called the "self-defense counterattack war against Vietnam", and China successfully protected its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The cost of the war was enormous, with the PLA numbering 8,500 in just one month**, including the sons of 11 unit chiefs, some of whom were the sons of cadres.
In the face of enemy fire, they did not choose to dodge, but chose to take the lead and move forward bravely. Among them, the prototype of "Commander Lei" in the movie "Garland Under the Mountain", Zhang Zhixin, the commander of the 160th Division of the 54th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, was at the front-line headquarters, and he yelled at political commissar Li Zhaogui: "I am the commander of the first division, what happened?" ”
Li Zhaogui hesitantly handed the division commander a telegram from the front. After Zhang Zhixin took it, when he saw the content of the telegram, his face instantly turned pale, and his mouth kept moving, as if he was whispering something.
The great shock and grief made him stand for three minutes, and then he lowered his head as if he had woken up from a dream, and after a moment of silence, he said softly: "Where there is war, there will be sacrifice, and my son's death is meaningful." ”
Zhang Zhixin's son, Zhang Li, served as the deputy squad leader of the reconnaissance squad in the army. Although he is Zhang Zhixin's "old man", he has shown outstanding ability and tenacity since he was a child.
When the horn of the counterattack against Vietnam sounded, Zhang Zhang was conducting intensive training in the south, and he was actively training, making rapid progress, and was already ready for battle. However, when he learned that his unit did not need to go to the front, his mood was a little low.
But he suddenly remembered that his father was the teacher, so he expressed his thoughts to his father. Seeing his son's firmness and courage, although Zhang Zhixin has always hated "going through the back door", this time he made an exception, used his privileges to transfer his son to his own unit, and made him the deputy squad leader of the reconnaissance squad.
Zhang Zhixin's true identity in the army was kept strictly secret, and only a few high-ranking cadres knew about it. Before Zhang Zhang set out for the battle, Zhang Zhixin solemnly warned him: "You must be like a soldier on the battlefield, you can't engage in specialization, you can't lose my face, and if you can't make meritorious contributions, don't come back to see me." ”
Zhang Li confidently responded with a "received" and then stepped on the front line. On February 17, 1979, the troops crossed the Sino-Vietnamese border and advanced southward. As the deputy squad leader of the scout, Zhang Li often has to go to the front of the team to check the enemy's situation.
Although the work was extremely dangerous, Zhang Li was not afraid and came up with many ingenious reconnaissance tactics that surprised even the experienced squad leaders. On the first day of the expedition, Zhang Zhang was twice awarded military merits and joined the party.
Zhang Li, deputy squad leader, led his team to carry out a reconnaissance mission on the 267 heights, but was unfortunately surrounded by enemy troops. The bullets rained down, and the team members were pinned down from a high place and could not raise their heads, while Zhang Zhang used the cover of stones to get closer to the bunker with difficulty.
Suddenly, a bullet pierced his waist and knocked him to the ground. Despite the unbearable pain, he was well aware of the importance of front-line intelligence and insisted on escorting his teammates back to the unit.
However, being too far away from the army hospital, Zhang Zhang decided to act as a cover himself and let his teammates retreat. He knew that his life was coming to an end, so he revealed an amazing secret to the squad leader: "My father is Zhang Zhixin, the division commander of our army, and when I die, please tell him that my son has not disgraced him." Please tell him not to grieve excessively and to take care of my mother's ......”
The telegram of the sacrifice of tension quickly reached the troops. After receiving the telegram, Political Commissar Li Zhaogui immediately took measures: "Our division commander is over half a hundred years old, and the most important thing now is to command the battle on the front line, and we cannot spread the news. ”
Still, the atmosphere in the troops made Zhang Zhixin suspicious. After repeated questioning, Li Zhaogui finally took out the telegram. After learning the news, Zhang Zhixin was extremely sad, but he knew that there was no room for delay on the battlefield, so he immediately adjusted his mood and continued to command the battle.
Seeing this scene, Li Zhaogui couldn't bear it, and he said to Zhang Zhixin: "Lao Zhang, if you can't do it, just take a rest first, I'm here to hold it." However, Zhang Zhixin resolutely refused.
After the war, the martyr Zhang Zhang was buried in the Jingxi Martyrs Cemetery in Guangxi. It was suggested that a memorial service be held for him to commemorate his contributions, but Zhang Zhixin firmly refused.
He stated that Zhang Li was no different from other sacrificed fighters and should not be treated specially. "Tiger Father" Zhang Zhixin loves his son deeply. On February 26, 2013, he died in Yantai, Shandong, with his son's ** in his pocket.
Father and son are not only Zhang Zhixin and Zhang Li, but also Qu Kui and Qu Ningjiang in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. Qu Ningjiang's father, Qu Kui, was the chief of staff of the 41st Army, and he made many miraculous achievements in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and his mother was also an old comrade who participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
It can be said that Qu Ningjiang has lived in a military home since he was a child and has been influenced by the "red thought", and his idol is the famous father Qu Kui.
In 1978, Qu Ningjiang, who was only 19 years old, couldn't wait to join the army and came to the Dahuashan Company to participate in training.
Qu Ningjiang is a handsome white-faced scholar who likes to read. However, the soldiers around him thought he was too thin to stand out on the battlefield. In order to overcome his bookish anger, Qu Ningjiang had to do extra exercises every day in the army.
He threw grenades, did push-ups, and practiced until his arms were sore. Even so, he didn't give up. The sun was scorching, and he lay on his stomach all afternoon, practicing shooting and aiming.
After a period of training, Qu Ningjiang changed from a "white-faced scholar" to a swarthy "sharpshooter" and "strongman". In December 1978, Vietnam** invaded the Chinese border, attacking peaceful villages and killing innocent border residents.
Qu Ningjiang looked at all this, and his heart was full of anger. He wrote a letter to his brother, writing: "Recently, the situation between China and Vietnam has been tense, and as a soldier, I have slept and charged into battle for the sake of the national style. The duty of a soldier is to do his best for the country and fight in battle. ”
After his petition was rejected, Qu Ningjiang repeatedly applied to participate in the front line of the counterattack against Vietnam, but was not approved. In the end, he had to ask his father for help, and Qu Kui, who had always been impartial, made an exception to help his son and brought him to his own army.
Although the two had met on the battlefield once, due to the urgency of the situation, Qu Kui did not even have time to talk to Qu Ningjiang. Sadly, this side turned out to be a farewell.
Qu Ningjiang's unit is the Sharp Knife Battalion, and they ride in a mighty and brave tank unit"Stuck neck"A fierce battle was fought with the enemy at the gorge of the pass, and the victory was achieved.
However, a new order came from the command that the Sharp Knife Battalion was interspersed to stop the reinforcements sent by the enemy from Hanoi.
Although the Sharp Knife troops were fearless, they were powerless in the face of enemy forces that were several times their size. Due to isolation from other units, the Sharp Knife Battalion has been without food for five days. However, Qu Ningjiang insisted on going to the front, and the company commander had no choice but to agree to his request.
At 10 o'clock in the morning, when the troops were marching to the area of Tun Pian, they were suddenly attacked by enemy troops. Many comrades-in-arms fell one after another, and Qu Ningjiang immediately organized firepower to protect the evacuation of his teammates who were still on the road.
As he was rapidly advancing to the left, a shuttle bullet hit his left foot. His comrades around him ran over to help him bandage, but he shouted: "Leave me alone, suppress the enemy's fire!" ”
Qu Ningjiang stuck to his post in the battle and did not give up even if he was scarred. The walkie-talkie found that he was exhausted, but Qu Ningjiang still persevered to the end.
At the last moment of his life, he tells the walkie-talkie not to tell his mother, then pulls out a blood-stained family portrait, gives it to the walkie-talkie, and uses his life to pave the way for his teammates to survive.
After the war, Qu Ningjiang was commended by the party committee of the army as a hero who loves the motherland and the people, posthumously remembered his first-class merits, and was posthumously recognized as a full member of the Communist Party of China. In a letter to his parents, he said that if he and his younger brother could not come back, he hoped that his parents would live strongly.
He left 12 yuan and a straw mat as a gesture of respect to his parents.
A suicide note, the blood of the brothers stained the field"This was the last letter that Geng Jun and his younger brother Geng Xiaokang left to their families before going to the battlefield. The letter was written on February 10, 1979, however, the misfortune foreshadowed in the letter became a reality in mid-March, when the two brothers died heroically on the battlefield.
Geng Jun's father, Geng Jinfu, was born in 1930 and joined the Eighth Route Army at the age of 14. He performed well in a series of battles such as the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the Counterinsurgency, and made countless achievements.
He served in the military for 34 years and was promoted to deputy chief of staff of the 150th Division of the 50th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In 1958, Geng Jinfu's unit was sent to the ** garrison, and his lover Zhu Jianming also came here with him.
Here, they gave birth to their eldest son, Geng Jun, and the following year, Geng Xiaokang. The letter is full of family warmth and deep longing for their loved ones, but fate has made them fulfill their vows on the battlefield.
Geng Xiaokang, born on the Kham Plateau, has the tenacity of a soldier in his blood. Watching his father send his older siblings into the army, the military enthusiasm in his heart grew stronger and stronger.
However, his initial application for enlistment was rejected on the grounds of age. Despite this, Geng Xiaokang was not discouraged, and he decided to start as a cooking class first and work as a handyman to realize his dream of joining the army.
In the end, his dedication touched the leadership of the army and he was able to successfully enlist in the army. After joining the army, he still maintained the habit of keeping a diary, and at the end of each diary he wrote: "Please rest assured motherland!" ”
In February 1979, the army received a combat order, and her sister Geng Qing immediately applied to go to the front, but was not approved. Subsequently, Geng Jun and Geng Xiaokang also applied.
According to the regulations, the elder brother Geng Jun has been approved to go to the front line, and the younger brother Geng Xiaokang can stay in the rear. However, Geng Xiaokang's enthusiasm did not cool down, and he said firmly: "I am a soldier, and it is natural to go to the front line!" ”
The two brothers, Geng Jun and Geng Xiaokang, followed the large army to the front line together. They excelled in the unit and were soon promoted to squad leader of the 8th company and deputy squad leader of the 6th company, respectively.
The day before they went to the battlefield, they each scraped together a monthly allowance of 6 yuan and put it in the "suicide note" that had been written. On February 22, 1979, Geng Jinfu came from hundreds of miles to cheer them on, and wrote a parting message of "bravely killing the enemy and making contributions to the country".
Geng Jinfu never thought that this would be the last time he saw his two children. The squadron marched all the way, and the triumphant song kept blowing in the barracks. By mid-March 1979, the squadron was ready to retreat.
The Vietnamese troops, who learned of this, quickly arranged and prepared to deal a heavy blow to our troops during the retreat. On March 15, 1979, Geng Xiaokang's company was suddenly attacked by Vietnamese troops.
Geng Xiaokang, who was seriously wounded, resolutely chose to stay and snipe the enemy in order to cover the departure of 22 teammates. In the end, Geng Xiaokang died heroically!
On March 16, 1979, a sudden ambush put Geng's unit in a desperate situation. In the Guo Bang area, Geng led his soldiers to resist stubbornly, but the disparity between the enemy and the enemy was huge, and even if they used all the submachine gun ammunition, they still could not withstand the hordes of enemy troops.
At the critical moment of life and death, Geng Jun shouted: "Communists jump with me!" Then he heroically jumped off the cliff. At the same time, his son Geng Xiaokang also died heroically in the battle.
After the battle, Zhu's mother, who learned the bad news, turned white overnight. Accompanied by her daughter Geng Qing, she went to the Guangxi garrison to visit the people's fighters who had returned victoriously.
Looking at the neat queue, she couldn't help but shed tears. Although only four glorious "** children" were introduced, behind their stories are countless people's fighters who bravely sacrificed their lives for ***.
Their bodies and blood were forever left in a foreign land, and they exchanged their lives for us in peacetime. Today, when we learn their stories, we can't help but be moved by their bravery and selflessness.
Their stories are everywhere in the world: loyal soldiers who are a lifetime of guarding the frontier, heroic anti-drug policemen who go deep into the drug den just to complete their mission, and the people's defenders who never flinch in the face of **, they have created extraordinary achievements in ordinary life!
They have deeply engraved the people and the country in their hearts, they are the guardians of the people and the backbone of the country! Their cause is extremely noble, and their names will forever be engraved in the hearts of the Chinese people!
Their spirit lives on! It is these heroic people's heroes who have gone forward one after another and exchanged their lives for the peace and prosperity of today's China. We may not be able to remember the names of every hero, but we will never forget their deeds.
We will always remember the great achievements of the heroes, and we will always remember their blood for China! May the departed heroes rest in peace, and the living will always miss them!
Behind those quiet years, there are people who carry the weight for you. With this article, I would like to pay tribute to the revolutionary heroes who sacrificed their lives for the construction of New China.
