Zhongnan Beiye" Tang Dynasty Wang Wei

The middle-aged man is quite good, and his late home is in the south of the mountains.

Every time you go alone, you know what you are winning.

Go to the poor place of the water, and sit and watch the clouds rise.

Occasionally, Lin Suo, talk and laugh without a repayment date.

Wang Wei's poem "Farewell to the South" was composed in his later years when he lived in seclusion in Zhongnan Mountain. In his later years, Wang Wei was the official to the right of Shangshu, and this position was neither small nor big. After many years of going in and out of the imperial court, he has seen all the hardships of his career and is tired of troublesome personnel. In fact, after the age of forty, he lived a life of both official and seclusion. This poem expresses the poet's self-satisfaction and leisure during his seclusion. Among them, "go to the poor place of water, sit and watch the clouds rise" is a famous sentence loved by later generations.

One or two sentences: "The middle-aged man is quite good, and the late home is in the south of the mountains." ”

wrote that he had already believed in Buddhism when he was middle-aged, and in his later years, he settled at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain.

"Dao" here refers to Buddhism. "Home" is to settle down. "Nanshan" is the end of Nanshan. "Nanshan Chuí" means at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain, which refers to the location of the Gongchuan industry purchased by the poet.

These two lines indicate the poet's destiny in life.

Three or four sentences: "Every time you go alone, you know what you are doing." ”

Whenever the poet is interested, he can't wait to invite friends and roam in the mountains alone, and the only regret is that those beautiful things are only enjoyed by himself.

At this point in the poem, the image of a hermit who is free and easy, intoxicated by the scenery of the mountains and forests is displayed in front of the reader.

Five or six sentences: "Go to the poor place of the water, and sit and watch the clouds rise." ”

These two sentences are the famous sentences loved by later generations, the poet wrote in the mountains "Xinglai" and "alone", unconsciously came to the end of the stream, so he sat down and watched the clouds and mist in the mountains slowly rise and change.

The clouds are "erratic, giving the impression of being careless and idle. In the eyes of Buddhists, clouds symbolize "impermanence" and "non-dwelling mind". Therefore, the Zen mechanism contained in "sitting and watching the clouds rise" is, in short, "emptiness", which means that if one can abandon attachment and have no "mind" like a cloud, one can get rid of one's troubles and attain liberation.

The poet had an epiphany at this point when he sat and looked at it.

Walking to the poor place of water and watching the clouds rise" shows the poet's leisurely and beautiful state of mind.

Seven or eight sentences "Occasionally, Lin Suo, talk and laugh without a repayment date." ”

The poet met the old man in the mountains, so he laughed and talked with him, and the conversation was so close that he forgot the time to go home.

The value "is encountered." "叟sǒu" is an old man. "No repayment" means that there is no exact time of return.

The poet's "talk and laugh without a return date" is because he has realized the realm of "forgetting the two things and me" and "the one thing and me", thus forgetting the world and reaching the real "empty" realm.

This poem focuses on the poet's leisurely and comfortable mood when he lives in seclusion in the mountains, highlighting the poet's open-minded and free character. The language of the whole poem is shallow and clear, but it writes about leisure and interest vividly, and has both poetry and reason.
