Although Vietnam had successfully confronted and unified the European and American powers, it had suffered setbacks in its attempts to unify Indochina. In particular, the decision to withdraw troops from Cambodia in 1986 completely cut off Vietnam's hope of reunifying the Indochina Peninsula.

Historically, Vietnam has confronted Siam, the United States, France, Japan, and many other powerful countries, and eventually achieved national reunification, but why is it helpless against its two neighbors, Cambodia and Laos in the Indochina Peninsula?

What causes this? Why can't Indochina be reunified? Vietnam's special affection for Indochina and the fact that it is unable to unify the region are issues that deserve to be delved into.

At the same time, the issue of the reunification of the Indochina Peninsula also requires our attention and reflection, because it has a bearing on the stability and development of the region.

Despite the fact that Indochina is one of the world's most peninsulad peninsulas, covering an area of more than 2 million square kilometers, rich in mineral resources and a pleasant climate, as well as many historic countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia, it is not as well-known as the Korean Peninsula, which is only one-tenth the size of the peninsula.

The Indochina Peninsula has not been reunified due to the separation of countries, and the Korean Peninsula has basically been regarded as a whole in history, and now the DPRK and the ROK are actively seeking reunification. Vietnam, as the most powerful country in the Indochina Peninsula, has always had a strong desire to control the region.

In fact, as early as the thirteenth century, Vietnam was a powerful force in the Indochina Peninsula and was striving to unify the region.

Vietnam and Siam have been in confrontation for the past few hundred years, and both are eager to accomplish the great cause of reunification. However, history has ruthlessly deprived these two countries of their opportunities.

The Industrial Revolution in Europe brought advanced technology with all its might, but it was achieved in the form of colonizer aggression. France at that time came to the fore and quickly defeated Siam, and the historic country disappeared in the torrent of history.

After defeating Siam, France did not stop, and Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos became French colonies one after another.

Indochina has another name, French Indochina, and behind this name is the skill and ambition of the French, who tried to integrate the area influenced by Chinese culture and make it their own dependency adjacent to India.

However, such colonial rule is not destined to last long, and the essence of the colonization of European capitalist empires is to plunder resources and seize markets. As soon as there was a problem with the colony and the economy was frustrated, the colonists would immediately retreat.

After the outbreak of World War II, the rise of Japanese militarism soon spread the flames of aggression to Southeast Asia. By this time, France was no longer in its glory, and Japan succeeded in driving France out of Indochina with little effort.

Britain and France had similar colonial policies. When Britain withdrew from the Commonwealth, it retained a large number of institutions, which is an important reason why India has been able to maintain national unity to this day.

France, on the other hand, pursued a policy of preserving the original status of the Indochina Peninsula, which successfully shaped the situation of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Vietnam has the ambition of being the son of Sima Chao and is committed to the unification of the world.

After World War II, Southeast Asian countries achieved independence thanks to the efforts of their own revolutionary forces, but the experience of Indochina was even more tortuous.

The United States, as the hero of the defeat of Japan, took over the countries of Southeast Asia from Japan. However, the United States is not a saint, and taking over does not mean bringing peace to Southeast Asia.

What is surprising is that in the course of the negotiations, the United States actually intends to return Indochina to France so that it can once again exercise colonial rule. Such behavior is simply unbelievable.

Driving away one aggressor, but attracting an earlier one, countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia did not want to be in a groveling position again, and could only turn to our country and the USSR for help.

With the support of China and the Soviet Union, Vietnam finally drove out France completely, and although the United States later intervened, this did not shake the determination of the Indochina countries to pursue independence.

Although Vietnam was called the world's third military power after the War of Independence, it is uncertain whether this is true. But there is no doubt that Vietnam has persevered in its progress and has not stopped after the reunification of the country.

At first, the Viet Cong fought for the well-being of the Vietnamese people, but over time, they gradually deviated from their original intentions and lost themselves. Therefore, after the defeat of the American and French armies, Vietnam did not choose to rest, but forced the exhausted population to prepare for the next war, the invasion of Cambodia and Laos.

Under the world situation at that time, although the world had basically achieved peace and stability, and even the United States and the Soviet Union did not dare to provoke a war easily, Vietnam found a new way to start a war - playing hooligans to provoke trouble.

They created the ** incident and used it as an excuse to invade Cambodia, as if "if you want to add to the crime, there is no excuse", they want to beat you, are you afraid that you will not find a reason? Vietnam itself is a great power in Southeast Asia, and in addition, when they confronted the United States and France, they received a lot of money and support from our country and the Soviet Union, which made their military strength even stronger.

The Vietnamese army returned to the battlefield after the war, as if it were home, and quickly captured the entire territory of Cambodia, occupying Cambodia in 1978. Militarily weaker than Laos, Vietnam succeeded in capitulating Laos by using only political means, signing a number of treaties.

Although Laos is still nominally an independent state, Vietnam has been allowed to garrison troops at will. At this point, Vietnam has successfully taken control of the Indochina Peninsula and has only one step left to achieve political unification.

However, this last step has not been taken by Vietnam.

The reunification of the Indochina Peninsula could not be achieved through Vietnam's unjust war of aggression because although justice could not determine victory or defeat on the battlefield, it had important influence in many hidden places.

In World War II, the countries of the world resisted fascism and Japanese aggression, and these were just wars, so no matter how much Germany and Japan achieved, defeat could not be avoided in the end.

Similarly, Vietnam claims to unify Indochina, but in fact it is the rulers who want to satisfy their own selfish desires.

The unity of a region depends not only on the strength of the country, but also on the commonality and the possibility of integration within it. Although the Indochina Peninsula is geographically connected, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos have their own cultures, languages, customs, etc., and the people have a strong sense of belonging to their respective countries, and no form of aggression or colonization is allowed.

As early as the 19th century, Cambodia fought for independence on several occasions, including large-scale anti-aggression struggles in 1820 and 1840. Another obstacle to Vietnam's inability to unify Indochina is Vietnam's own limited strength.

Although Vietnam successfully resisted the aggression of the United States, France, Japan and other countries and achieved national reunification, this is more like Vietnam taking a free ride on the victory in World War II and getting a piece of the pie.

If it weren't for the repeated assistance of our country and the Soviet Union, Vietnam would have died long ago. In other words, Vietnam does not actually have a strong military force, and is only taking advantage of the situation to show its prestige.

The Viet Cong leaders naively believed that this was the work of the Vietnamese army, and as a result, in the absence of external assistance, although the Vietnamese succeeded in invading Cambodia and Laos, they fell into chaos and decay at home.

Moreover, after the death of the aggressive leader Le Duan, there was disagreement within the Viet Cong over whether to continue to unify Indochina. In addition to aggression against its neighbors, Vietnam often provokes conflicts, and its behavior is confusing.

With Thailand in particular, Vietnam not only ignores Thailand's strength, but also seems intent on perpetuating past struggles.

As neighbors, China and Vietnam should have helped each other, but Vietnam repeatedly provoked our country and chose to make friends with the Soviet Union after Sino-Soviet relations were tense, which is unacceptable.

Although the Soviet Union and our country have different political views, we are gentlemen's friends, and Vietnam's behavior of joining in the fun is really not authentic. What is even more infuriating is that Vietnam has even challenged China's bottom line and frequently harassed China in the South China Sea.

Such acts should be condemned by the international community.

In the face of Vietnam's provocations and aggression, our country has always exercised restraint. However, Vietnam's ambitions had swelled to the limit, and could trigger a spark of war at any moment. In 1979, Vietnam repeatedly violated our borders and even sent troops to harass our residents, posing a serious threat to the safety of our people's lives and property.

In this case, our country is forced to take countermeasures in order to protect our borders from intrusion. Despite the fact that Vietnam has established close relations with the United States and the Soviet Union, our country has decided to take action in order to preserve our territorial integrity and dignity.

Although our country was very hesitant before taking action, we are well aware that only through resolute counterattack can Vietnam realize its mistake and truly safeguard its rights and interests.

After discussion, the generals of our army unanimously agreed that the war of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam may not consume too much time and energy, because the most likely scenario is that the United States and the Soviet Union have not had time to react, and the battle has already ended.

Although the war of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam sounds like a forced launch by our country, in reality, it is more like an operation to suppress an armed conflict. Despite the long march, our army still managed to achieve a complete overwhelm of the Vietnamese army, and the entire campaign took less than a month, and most of the time was spent on travel and supplies.

If Vietnam had known how to accept what is good, then they might have achieved the reunification of the Indochina Peninsula long ago, and might even become one of the important forces in the international community.

Vietnam, which once missed a good opportunity, can now only experience remorse and reverence for the PLA. Although Indochina ambitions have not succeeded, there are still those who assume that Vietnam's reunification of Indochina may not be a bad thing.

Once Vietnam completes its peripheral aggression and integration, it will become an important power in Asia and even the world. Although there is still a gap between the strength and the world's top echelon, it is enough to attract widespread attention.

As a socialist country, Vietnam is expected to become a staunch ally of our country, and after getting rid of the control of the Western world, it may even affect the world pattern.

The current situation in South Asia is changing, and India's hatred towards our country will be eased. This is because India recognizes that ignoring Vietnam's threat to India could lead to a decline in its own position.

In the future development, China, Vietnam, and India will form a new and unstable pattern, in which China, by virtue of its huge territory and superior conditions of depth, will occupy a dominant position.

While people are full of illusions about the future, the reality is often brutal and unforgiving. Although Vietnam's dream of reunifying Indochina may come true, this is bad news for our country and the world.

Vietnam, as a socialist country, actually has close ties with the Western camp, especially South Vietnam, from the ** to the people, are trying to establish relations with Britain and the United States.

The United States is looking for a representative of South Asia, so in international affairs, Vietnam tends to side with the United States. From this point of view, Vietnam's expansion is a threat to us, and it could become a bridge for the United States to penetrate our country and create instability on our borders.

In addition, the historical relationship between Vietnam and our country is not friendly, and they may have a deep-seated sense of rejection towards our country, after all, they have long been a subject country and have now achieved independence.

When rejection reaches its limit, it can burn into anger. Viet Nam has always found various reasons to reject our friendly signals, and even played behind our backs when we encountered difficulties in our development.

At that time, China's navy was not yet strong, and there was a lack of large ships for patrolling and guarding the South China Sea, while Vietnam was running rampant in the South China Sea with the help of destroyers purchased from Europe and the United States, and quietly occupied China's islands, which it regarded as its own territory.

Although these islands do not have many resources, Vietnam's behavior betrays their unwillingness to live in peace with us.

If Vietnam succeeds in reunifying the Indochina Peninsula, it may lead to a significant increase in its strength, becoming a major hidden danger on our borders, frequently colluding with the United States, Britain and other countries, and even creating trouble at sea.

Although this is only speculation, Vietnam has already shown its ambition by attacking countries such as Cambodia immediately after achieving independence. However, due to Vietnam's limited strength, the current situation is still under our control.

We do not want other countries to encounter difficulties, but we believe that any development should be commensurate with its own strength and historical trends.

Vietnam's defeat stemmed from the mercenary interests of its leaders, but fortunately it did not lead to more serious consequences, so let us learn from this and cherish peace and pursue peace.
