Since reading the Book of Han, there are many characters in the book that I admire and move, but there are only two that can make me extremely admired and moved, one is Sima Qian, and the other is Bingji. For Sima Qian, I once wrote an article to express my respect, so this article should be dedicated to Bingji.
In the long history of more than 2,000 years, Bingji's personality charm is like a pearl, shining with moving brilliance. He is kind, he is upright, he is brave, he is firm, he is humble, he is generous, he is wise, he is gracious and does not want to reciprocate, he is almost flawless, admirable and touching.
Bingji, who was originally just a minor official, first served as a prisoner in Lu, and later became a court lieutenant. In the last years of Emperor Wu, the witch curse occurred, and Bingji was called to manage the county prison where the people involved in the witch curse were imprisoned. This was a turning point in Bingji's life, but no one realized it at the time
The case of Wu Gu is the case of Jiang Chong framing the crown prince Liu Ju. Jiang Chong had a holiday with Liu Ju, worried that Liu Ju would kill himself when he succeeded to the throne, so he took advantage of Emperor Wu's fear of death and suspicion in his later years, slandered the prince Liu Ju and cursed Emperor Wu to die quickly with witchcraft, Liu Ju had no choice but to launch a mutiny, and finally was defeated and killed.
After the failure of the mutiny, Liu Ju's biological mother Wei Zifu, Liu Ju, Liu Ju's wife Shi Liangdi, Liu Ju's son Liu Jin, and Liu Jin's wife Wang Wengxu were all killed because of this incident. WhileLiu Jin's son, who is also the grandson of Liu Ju and the great-grandson of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, was only a few months old when Liu was ill, and was imprisoned in the county prison.
Bingji knew that the crown prince actually had no intention of rebellion, and sympathized with the innocent great-grandson of Emperor Wu, so he found two female prisoners to support Liu Aiji, and used his own personal money to provide clothes, food, and medical expenses. At that time, Liu was already sick and almost died, and it was only thanks to Bingji that he was able to grow up.
In addition, there is another very important thing, that is, Bingji bravely saved Liu Aiji from the sword of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. At that time, some people saw that there was a son of heaven in Chang'an Prison, and Emperor Wu ordered someone to kill all the prisoners in the prison. Bingji blocked the envoy and held each other all night.
The envoy Guo Sui went back to restore his life and asked Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty to investigate Bingji. Fortunately, at this time, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty had woken up and came to the world with an amnesty. Liu Yi has survived from this catastrophe, and was later sent to his grandmother Shi Liangdi's maiden family, the Shi family, to be fed and educated, and grow up to become a talent.
After the death of Emperor Wu, his eight-year-old son Liu Fuling succeeded to the throne, and was assisted by the powerful minister Huo Guang, who was Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty was smart and promising, but unfortunately he died of illness at the age of 21 and had no heirs. Huo Guangli Changyi King Liu He, who knew that Emperor Liu He's throne did not sit firmly, and he was abolished in 27 days.
When discussing who to be the emperor again, Bingji recommended Liu Ai to Huo Guang, saying that Liu Ai was the great-grandson of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, and now he is ten years old. Huo Guang took Bingji's suggestion and sent him to meet Liu Aiji.
Liu Yi has succeeded to the throne and is Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty. But he never knew Bingji's kindness to him, no one told him, and Bingji himself didn't say it. Later, it was because of a palace maid who wrote a book to ask for a reward, and Emperor Xuan of Han learned about the events of that year, and knew that he had today thanks to Bingji.
It turned out that a palace maid named "Ze" asked people to write a book for themselves to ask for a reward, saying that they had protected and nurtured Liu Zhi back then. But no one knows about it. "Then" said that Bingji knew.
Bingji looked at "Ze" and said that "Ze" was no longer serious about raising Liu Ai back then, and he was punished, what merit is there? However, Hu Group and Guo Zhengqing were kind to the emperor. Bingji also reported the hardships of the two men's support.
Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty repaid Hu Group and Guo Zhengqing, and also gave "Ze" 100,000 yuan, and then named Bingji as the Marquis of Boyang, with 1,300 households. Bingji did not accept the reward, and Emperor Xuan of Han forced him to accept it. Later, Bingji became the prime minister again.
Regarding the story of Bingji, there is also a "Bingji asks the cow" is also more famous, in addition, Bingji does not punish himself, the former reflects Bingji's concern for farming, and the latter reflects Bingji's broad-mindedness. Of course, what best reflects the brilliance of Bingji's humanity is still in the matter of saving Liu's illness.
sympathized with Liu Aiji's innocence, let people support Liu Aiji, and paid for it himself, showing Bingji's integrity and kindness. Preventing the envoy from killing Liu Ai has shown Bingji's bravery and determination. Bingji did all this not for political speculation, because he did not know that Liu Ai would later be able to ascend to power.
Just like Chang'an ShiwuZunAs he said, "How can you know the blessings of the world and repay it!" Sincerity and benevolence are also knotted in the heart". Bingji is completely benevolent and does not want to repay, even if the other party is the emperor, he has never thought of asking for merit and reward. This is in stark contrast to those who have been proud of their achievements throughout history.
Throughout the ages, there have been too few people like Bingji. The vast majority of people can't do this. Most people are greedy, and some people are like hens laying eggs, and they will never forget and chatter about a little credit, for fear that others will not know, for fear that others will forget. Others are insatiable and keep asking for it like a fisherman's wife.
There are even people who do good deeds with a purpose, to help others, in the name of emotional investment, political investment, etc., waiting for the other party to repay themselves when they have the ability in the future, or to ask for it from the other party. And this, in essence, can no longer be called "good", but can be called "evil", or at least "hypocrisy".
Not only does a person like Bingji not try to repay his kindness, but he doesn't mention it at all, not only does he not mention it to the recipient, but he also doesn't mention it to others, this is the true goodness, the pure and pure good, the supreme good, how can he not move people? Bingji is really the embodiment of goodness, a model of life, a great personality, and a glorious future!
