Li Si (280 BC – 208 BC) was a famous politician, legalist, thinker and writer during the Qin period of China. He played an important role in the spread and development of Legalist thought. Li Si designed a series of important political institutions for Qin Shi Huang, was the prime minister of the Qin Dynasty, and had a profound impact on the unification of China. However, in the end, Li Si was also executed by Qin Shi Huang because of political struggles, which also became one of the most famous deaths in Chinese history.

After the unification of China by the Qin state, he was commissioned by Qin Shi Huang to design a series of important political institutions, including the redistribution of land, the printing of uniform laws, and the same track of currency and carts, and the unification of money made it easier for citizens to transact and greatly promote social and economic development.

However, Li Si is also in conflict with other prime ministers because of his political ideas and behaviors, especially with Zhao Gao, the scheming prime minister. In 210 BC, after the death of Qin Shi Huang, Zhao Gao and Li Si became even more popular in the dispute between the three palaces and the six courts. In order to eliminate dissidents and reduce threats, Zhao Gao constantly created rumors to slander Li Si. Li Si knew that the situation was not good, and wanted to avoid Zhao Gao's edge, betray other loyal ministers, beg for surrender, and fall into the ground. However, Qin II and Zhao Gao were wary, and under one persecution, Li Si was forced to write his own death verdict himself.

According to the "Historical Records", while Li Si officially wrote the surrender note, he also wrote a letter of invitation, saying: "The minister has nothing to do when he hears about his illness, and he has no damage to his body." Fearing that future generations would laugh at him, Li Si decided to commit suicide with his fame and jumped to his death by jumping into the river. According to the "Historical Records", Li Si wrote the "Chen Qing Table": "The minister wishes to Chen Chen's "Chen Qing Table" for fun." In order to comfort future generations and live up to the depression.

Li Si's death was a tragedy in Chinese history, he was the inheritor and developer of Legalist thought, and an important participant in the founding of the Qin state, however, because of political struggles and court intrigues, he was eventually executed. Li Si's death has also become a tragic allusion to a period in Chinese history, reflecting the cruelty and brutal reality of ancient China's political intrigues.
