At the junction of Fengtai District and Chaoyang District in Beijing, there used to be an ancient temple called Minute Temple. The temple dates back to the Ming Dynasty and is said to have undergone extensive repairs and expansions during the Qing Dynasty.
In the minute temple, there is a big bell, about 3 meters high, about 2 meters in diameter, weighing tens of thousands of catties. This bell is the treasure of the temple and a sacred object in the hearts of the local residents.
It is said that this bell has a magical legend. Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty, a monk traveled all over the world and came to the village where the Minute Temple is located. He found that the people in this place were living in hardship and suffering from frequent diseases, which he believed was due to the poor feng shui in the area. So, he decided to build a temple here to improve the fortune of the local residents.
In order to raise funds, the monk made fortunes everywhere and eventually received a generous donation from a wealthy businessman. With the financial support of wealthy merchants, the monks organized craftsmen to build the temple and cast a large bell in the temple.
After the bell was cast, the moment it was struck, something magical happened. The melodious sound of the bell echoed over the entire village. It is said that the bell of this large bell has magical powers, which can dispel evil spirits and bless the safety and health of local residents.
Since then, the local residents have regarded the bell as a sacred object and often come to the temple to burn incense and pray for blessings. During major festivals or celebrations, people also ring large bells to pray for the blessings and protection of the gods.
Nowadays, with the changes of history, the temple of the Minute Temple has long been submerged in the long river of history, and the magical bell has disappeared mysteriously, but the story of the bell is still circulated in the mouths of the aborigines and has become a reminiscence of the good times in the past.
