Sketching is an important painting practice, and even in a sense, sketching is also creation.
There are two questions faced in sketching, one is what to write? How is one written?

From the perspective of retinal imaging, the objects in front of each normal person's eyes should be roughly the same, while the same objects are expressed in the artist's paintings, but they are very different. Therefore, it is because sketching is not only about the shape of the object and the color of the object, but also about writing something more profound than these visual representations.

Wen Jia of the Ming Dynasty once said, "Sketchers are so valuable that they don't seek to resemble them." Qing Fang Kaoru also said similarly, "I don't know that the ancients sketched that was the business of writing." ”
It can be seen that resemblance is not the only pursuit of sketching, and on the basis of resemblance, it is also necessary to take into account "gods" and "business of things". Comprehensive consideration, the Ming Dynasty's inexpensive theory of three interests can give people inspiration, the three interests are natural interest, material interest and human interest, that is, "those who are interested in nature, God is also"; "Those who are interested in things are also like"; "Those who are interested in life are also born".

To a certain extent, sketching is no longer a passive description, but a creative transformation of the image in front of you into a picture and an artistic image through the painting language such as dots, lines, surfaces, colors, and textures. Of course, this transformation is affected by the existing schema; It will also be influenced by the artist's existing experience, including his study and life background; The second is influenced by the artist's own thoughtfulness and sensitivity to the use of materials. It should be said that using the principles of retinal imaging to ask artists is something that laymen do. (Photo: Liu Mingming).
